Flight Score
Smooth the climb
Pull to 15 degrees at one rate and you get a clean liftoff, pull to the same 15 degrees at twice the rate and you get an overshoot, a push, and an oscillation through the first few hundred feet. The type-general rule of thumb is a rotation rate of about 2 to 3 degrees per second, which means roughly five to seven seconds from starting the pull to reaching the initial climb attitude of around 15 degrees nose-up. Count it out loud during your next takeoff and you will almost certainly discover you have been rotating in two seconds flat.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 600 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 600 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 92 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 25 at Emden Airport (EDWE). The aircraft, a TBM 850, accelerated down the runway and lifted off at a speed of 102 kt, covering a distance of 175 m, which was 18% of the runway length. The local weather conditions at the time of takeoff were characterized by a temperature of 16 °C and a gentle headwind of 1 kt from the northwest.
As the aircraft climbed away from Emden, it began its enroute climb 1 mile northwest of the airport, rising from an altitude of 1,014 ft above sea level to 1,523 ft, an increase of 509 ft in just 1 minute. During this climb, the aircraft covered a distance of 2 nm. Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which lasted for 6 minutes and covered a distance of 13 nm.
The final approach to runway 34 at Norden-Norddeich Airport (EDWS) was initiated from the south, with the aircraft heading 342.0° at an altitude of 941 ft above ground level and a distance of 4 nm from the runway threshold. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were similar to those at takeoff, with a temperature of 16 °C and a gentle headwind of 1 kt from the northwest.
The landing was executed with a threshold speed that was well above the target speed, at 76 kt. The touchdown distance was good, covering a distance of 89 m, which was 36% of the runway length. However, the touchdown speed was a little fast, at 71 kt, and the touchdown rate was fair, at -284 fpm. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, and the runway rollout alignment was also excellent.
Overall, the flight was a successful one, with a total distance of 20 nm covered in 15 minutes, and a fuel consumption of 44 kg. The aircraft performed well throughout the flight, demonstrating its capabilities and handling characteristics.
The TBM 850 aircraft successfully landed at EDWS Norden-Norddeich Airport, achieving a high score of 98.3%. The final approach was conducted from the south, heading 342.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 941 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft demonstrated good control and precision during the approach, ultimately landing on runway 34.
The landing was executed with a good threshold height, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway. However, the threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 76 kt, which may have been due to the aircraft's momentum or the pilot's decision to maintain a higher speed during the approach. Despite this, the touchdown distance was good at 89 meters, indicating that the aircraft was able to slow down effectively before touching down.
The touchdown speed of 71 kt was a little fast, which may have resulted in a slightly higher touchdown rate of -284 feet per minute (fpm). This is not excessively high, but it does suggest that the aircraft may have been able to touch down at a slightly slower speed. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway and that the pilot had good control during the landing.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were favorable, with a temperature of 16°C and a wind speed of 1 kt from 270°. This resulted in a negligible crosswind component and a headwind of 0 kt. The total landing distance was 215 meters, which is 36% of the runway length. This is a relatively short landing distance, indicating that the aircraft was able to slow down effectively and come to a stop quickly.
The runway rollout alignment was also very good, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway during the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was executed with good precision and control, and the aircraft was able to come to a stop safely and efficiently.
