Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: seven checks where the approach path is 300 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
At the 300 ft gate: off the centreline.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,824 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 331 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft, a Kodiak 100, taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Manistee County Blacker Airport, taking approximately 3 minutes to cover a distance of 2 nautical miles. The departure roll took place on runway 28, with the aircraft lifting off after a takeoff distance of 247 meters, which was 15% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 80 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 17 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 13 knots blowing from 330 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 11 knots and a headwind of 7 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile east of Parkdale, Michigan, and rising from an altitude of 1,554 feet above sea level to 9,827 feet above sea level, an increase of 8,273 feet, in 7 minutes and covering a distance of 15 nautical miles.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise, starting 4 miles north of Custer, Michigan, and lasting for 13 minutes, during which it covered a distance of 42 nautical miles. The enroute descent then began 3 miles southeast of the Midget Airport North Muskegon, Michigan, and the aircraft descended from 9,844 feet above sea level to 1,571 feet above sea level, a decrease of 8,273 feet, in 12 minutes and covering a distance of 35 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise, this time starting overhead the West Michigan Regional Airport Holland, Michigan, and lasting for 2 minutes, during which it covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The final approach to runway 26 at the West Michigan Regional Airport was made from the east, with the aircraft heading 262.0 degrees at an altitude of 155 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 26 was successful, with the aircraft touching down at a speed of 63 knots, which was slightly above the target speed. The touchdown distance was good at 329 meters, and the touchdown rate was excellent at -82 feet per minute. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.7 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 19 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 9 knots blowing from 320 degrees, resulting in a crosswind of 8 knots and a headwind of 5 knots.
The total landing distance was 685 meters, which was 38% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good, and the aircraft was able to taxi to the parking area in just 1 minute, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 97 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 39 minutes, during which the aircraft used 96 kilograms of fuel.
The aircraft in question, a Kodiak 100, successfully landed at KBIV West Michigan Regional Airport, achieving a score of 97.2%. The final approach was conducted from the east, heading 262.0° at an altitude of 155 feet above ground level (agl) and 0 nautical miles from the runway.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on runway 26, which has a length of 1,824 meters. The threshold height was reported as good, indicating that the aircraft was at the correct height as it approached the runway. However, the threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 73 knots, which may have been due to various factors such as wind resistance or the aircraft's weight.
The touchdown distance of 329 meters was considered good, indicating that the aircraft was able to slow down effectively after touchdown. However, the touchdown speed of 63 knots was a little fast, which may have been due to the aircraft's momentum or the pilot's decision to touch down at a higher speed. The touchdown rate of -82 feet per minute (fpm) was excellent, indicating that the aircraft was able to slow down rapidly after touchdown.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.7 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to the pilot's judgment or the aircraft's handling characteristics. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 19°C, a wind speed of 9 knots at 320°, and a crosswind of 8 knots and a headwind of 5 knots.
The total landing distance of 685 meters was 38% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance. The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was able to maintain its alignment with the runway after touchdown. Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft achieving a high score and demonstrating good handling characteristics.
