Improve the pattern downwind leg
Spacing cues are relative to your eyepoint, so two simmers with different FOV settings following the same wingtip cue fly patterns half a mile different in width, and a wide FOV compresses depth so the runway on base looks further away than it is, biasing you towards a late turn. Pick a camera position and FOV, save it, and never change it, because every judgement you calibrate is calibrated to that picture.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate for a circuit: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate is an instrument-approach check and does not apply.
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 5,207 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 934 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 23 at KBCT Boca Raton Airport, utilizing the FFX P180 aircraft. The takeoff distance required was 1,933 feet, which accounted for 37% of the runway. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 113 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time were characterized by a temperature of 60 degrees Fahrenheit and a wind speed of 1 knot from 270 degrees, resulting in a negligible crosswind and headwind.
As the aircraft entered the left-hand pattern, it did so from runway 23, requiring less than 1 nautical mile to complete the turn in 108 seconds. The subsequent crosswind turn from the same runway was even quicker, taking less than 1 nautical mile to complete in just 19 seconds. The pattern downwind turn involved a distance of 2 nautical miles, with an angle to the runway of 45 degrees and a turn angle of 32.0 degrees.
The aircraft then proceeded to the downwind leg, covering less than 1 nautical mile in just 2 seconds. The final approach to runway 05 at KBCT Boca Raton Airport was made from the southwest, with a heading of 44.0 degrees at an altitude of 0 nautical miles and 102 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 05 was successful, with a threshold height that was considered good and a threshold speed of 112 knots, which was also deemed satisfactory. The touchdown distance was 933 feet, and the touchdown speed of 100 knots was within acceptable limits. However, the touchdown rate of -212 feet per minute was considered fair. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 12 feet.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 59 degrees Fahrenheit and a wind speed of 2 knots from 288 degrees, resulting in a negligible crosswind and a tailwind of 1 knot. The total landing distance was 2,534 feet, accounting for 49% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating a smooth and controlled descent.
Following the landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area from the runway, covering less than 1 nautical mile in under 1 minute. The total flight distance was 3 nautical miles, and the flight utilized -2 pounds of fuel.
The aircraft, identified as FFX P180 03 01, successfully landed at KBCT Boca Raton Airport, achieving a score of 99.4%. The final approach to runway 05 was conducted from the southwest, with a heading of 44.0° at an altitude of 102 feet above ground level (agl) and a distance of 0 nautical miles from the runway.
Upon landing, the aircraft demonstrated good threshold height and threshold speed, reaching 112 knots. The touchdown distance was also within acceptable limits at 933 feet, and the touchdown speed was maintained at 100 knots. However, the touchdown rate was slightly below average at -212 feet per minute (fpm), indicating a slightly steeper descent than ideal.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 12 feet, which may have been due to factors such as wind or pilot error. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were relatively calm, with a temperature of 59°F and a wind speed of 2 knots from 288°. The crosswind and tailwind components were minimal, at 1 knot each.
The total landing distance was 2,534 feet, which accounted for approximately 49% of the runway length. This is a relatively short landing distance, indicating that the aircraft was able to touch down and come to a stop within a reasonable distance. The runway rollout alignment was very good, suggesting that the pilot was able to maintain control of the aircraft during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was successful, with the aircraft demonstrating good performance and control throughout the approach and touchdown phases. However, the slightly misaligned touchdown position and steeper-than-ideal touchdown rate may indicate areas for improvement in future landings.
