Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,789 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 416 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 10 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft, an Airbus A320, then departed from runway 07 at EGGW London Luton Airport. The takeoff distance was 1,508 meters, which accounted for 73% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 149 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 31 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 17 knots coming from a direction of 100 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 7 knots and a headwind of 15 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile east of EGGW London Luton Airport, and climbed from an altitude of 1,433 feet above sea level to 37,447 feet above sea level, an increase of 36,014 feet, in 22 minutes and covering a distance of 132 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 36 miles northwest of Nieuw-Haamstede, The Netherlands, and lasted for 43 minutes, covering a distance of 319 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting 9 miles southeast of Fehmarn, Germany, and descended from an altitude of 37,163 feet above sea level to 1,479 feet above sea level, a decrease of 35,684 feet, in 20 minutes and covering a distance of 95 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 35 at ESMS Malmö Sturup Airport was made from the south, heading 353.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,243 feet above ground level. The landing on runway 35 was successful, with a touchdown distance of 414 meters, which was good. However, the touchdown speed of 132 knots was a little fast, and the touchdown rate of -272 feet per minute was fair. The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 9.7 meters from the centreline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 17 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 23 knots coming from a direction of 60 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 21 knots and a headwind of 9 knots. The total landing distance was 1,107 meters, which accounted for 40% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 9.5 meters from the centreline.
The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 1 minute and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 554 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 99 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 4,186 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at ESMS Malmö Sturup Airport, achieving a score of 95.5%. The aircraft approached the runway from the south, heading 353.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,243 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was made to runway 35, which has a length of 2,789 meters.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down at a speed of 132 knots, which was slightly above the target speed. The touchdown distance of 414 meters was within the acceptable range. However, the touchdown rate of -272 feet per minute (fpm) was considered fair, indicating that the aircraft could have been brought down more smoothly.
The runway touchdown position was not perfectly aligned with the centerline, being off by 9.7 meters. This slight misalignment was also observed during the runway rollout, where the aircraft was 9.5 meters off the centerline. Despite these minor deviations, the overall landing performance was satisfactory.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 17°C and a wind speed of 23 knots from a direction of 60°. This resulted in a crosswind of 21 knots and a headwind of 9 knots. The pilots successfully managed these conditions to bring the aircraft safely to the ground.
Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft demonstrating good control and stability throughout the approach and touchdown phases. However, there is room for improvement in terms of touchdown speed and alignment with the runway centerline.
