MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: seven checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
At the 500 ft gate: sink rate above what the glideslope needed, off the centreline, wings not level and speed above the reference speed.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,732 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 653 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Bastia-Poretta Airport, which took 7 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Vision Jet, then departed from runway 34, with a takeoff distance of 697 meters, which was 27% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 101 knots.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it encountered local weather conditions of 23°C temperature and winds of 9 knots at 120 degrees. The crosswind component was 6 knots, while the tailwind component was 7 knots. The enroute climb started 1 mile north of the airport, where the aircraft climbed from 1,019 feet above sea level to 20,017 feet above sea level, an increase of 18,998 feet in 12 minutes, covering a distance of 36 nautical miles.
After reaching the cruising altitude, the aircraft entered a level cruise, which started 19 miles northeast of Macinaggio, Corsica, and lasted for 37 minutes, covering a distance of 163 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent, starting overhead Pian Camuno, Italy, where it descended from 19,907 feet above sea level to 11,970 feet above sea level, a decrease of 7,937 feet in 10 minutes, covering a distance of 47 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise, which started 5 miles west of Muestair, Switzerland, and lasted for 5 minutes, covering a distance of 10 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent again, starting overhead Tarasp, Switzerland, where it descended from 11,952 feet above sea level to 6,519 feet above sea level, a decrease of 5,433 feet in 5 minutes, covering a distance of 15 nautical miles.
The aircraft then climbed from 6,524 feet above sea level to 6,239 feet above sea level, an increase of 285 feet in 4 minutes, covering a distance of 8 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 03 at Samedan Airport was made from the southwest, heading 50.0 degrees at 1 nautical mile and 650 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 03 at Samedan Airport was made with a runway length of 1,732 meters. The threshold height was significantly above the target, and the threshold speed was excessively high at 101 knots. The touchdown point was 192 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 82 knots, which was fast. The touchdown rate was good at -187 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.4 meters from the centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 9°C temperature and winds of 20 knots at 209 degrees. The crosswind component was 0 knots, while the tailwind component was 20 knots. The total landing distance was 992 meters, which was 57% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The total flight distance was 283 nautical miles, taking 82 minutes, and the aircraft used 98 kilograms of fuel.
The Vision Jet aircraft has successfully landed at LSZS Samedan Airport, but with some notable areas for improvement. The final approach to runway 03 was initiated from the southwest, heading 50.0° at 1 nautical mile and 650 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on the runway, but the touchdown point was 192 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, indicating a slight overextension of the landing.
The touchdown speed of 82 knots was faster than ideal, which may have contributed to the overextension. However, the touchdown rate of -187 feet per minute (fpm) was good, indicating a controlled descent. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.4 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to the crosswind or tailwind conditions.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 9°C and a wind speed of 20 knots from 209°. This resulted in a crosswind of 0 knots and a tailwind of 20 knots, which may have affected the aircraft's alignment and touchdown point. The runway length at LSZS Samedan Airport is 1,732 meters, and the total landing distance was 992 meters, which is 57% of the runway length.
The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase. However, the threshold height at 94 feet agl was significantly above the target, and the threshold speed was excessively high at 101 knots. These factors may have contributed to the overextension and high touchdown speed.
Overall, while the Vision Jet aircraft landed safely, there are areas for improvement in terms of touchdown speed, touchdown point, and threshold height. The pilot should focus on maintaining a more controlled descent and aligning the aircraft with the centerline during the final approach and touchdown phases.
