Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,594 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 512 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from Bergen Airport, Flesland, the Airbus A321 began its journey on runway 17, taking off into a local weather pattern characterized by a temperature of 6 °C and a 13 kt headwind from 170 °. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 158 kt, utilizing 52% of the 2,460 m runway. Following a 7-minute taxi, the aircraft accelerated down the runway, covering 2 nm before lifting off into the Norwegian skies.
As the aircraft climbed from 1,077 ft asl to 26,008 ft asl, it covered 96 nm in 14 minutes, achieving an impressive increase of 24,930 ft. The enroute climb phase was followed by a brief level cruise, lasting 3 minutes and covering 30 nm, before the aircraft began its descent towards Geilo Airport Dagali Dagali. The descent phase saw the aircraft decrease by 15,591 ft in 5 minutes, covering 39 nm. The crew then leveled off for a second time, cruising for 3 minutes and covering 16 nm before initiating the final descent phase. This final descent took the aircraft from 10,110 ft asl to 2,060 ft asl, a decrease of 8,050 ft in 9 minutes, covering 30 nm.
The Airbus A321 approached runway 19R at Oslo Airport, Gardermoen from the north, aligning itself with the runway at 4 nm and 1,379 ft agl. The aircraft landed with a threshold speed slightly above target at 138 kt, touching down 95 m beyond the touchdown zone at a speed of 129 kt. The touchdown rate was good at -169 fpm, and the runway touchdown alignment was very good. Following a 8-minute taxi, the aircraft came to a stop, having covered 1 nm. The total flight distance was 220 nm, taking 51 minutes and utilizing 2,540 kg of fuel.
The aircraft touched down on runway 19R at ENGM Oslo Airport, Gardermoen, with a threshold height that met expectations. The approach quality was good, with a heading of 196.0° from the north at 4 nautical miles and 1,379 feet above ground level. The threshold speed was slightly above the target at 138 knots, which may have contributed to a slightly fast touchdown speed of 129 knots. However, the touchdown rate of -169 feet per minute was good, indicating a controlled descent.
The touchdown point was 95 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was well-centered on the runway. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 2°C and a wind of 15 knots at 190°, resulted in a 2-knot crosswind and a 15-knot headwind. These conditions did not appear to significantly impact the landing.
The total landing distance of 1,419 meters was 39% of the runway length, which is within acceptable limits. The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft remained well-centered on the runway during the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was scored 98.8%, reflecting a high level of proficiency and control throughout the approach, touchdown, and rollout phases.
