MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
At the 500 ft gate: sink rate above what the glideslope needed.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 5,681 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,681 ft of the 7,028 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 1,918 ft past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 14 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 727-200, then departed from runway 33L at KBOS Logan International Airport. The takeoff distance was 3,441 feet, which accounted for 37% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 140 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it encountered local weather conditions with a temperature of 55°F and a wind speed of 21 knots at 330°. The crosswind was 5 knots, and the headwind was 20 knots. The enroute climb started overhead Chelsea, Massachusetts, where the aircraft climbed from 1,022 feet above sea level to 14,700 feet above sea level, an increase of 13,678 feet in 6 minutes and covering 23 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started overhead Hopkinton, Massachusetts, and lasted for 2 minutes, covering 9 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent from 15,418 feet above sea level to 14,915 feet above sea level, a decrease of 503 feet in 2 minutes and covering 11 nautical miles. This was followed by another enroute climb from 14,864 feet above sea level to 15,650 feet above sea level, an increase of 785 feet in 2 minutes and covering 11 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 1 mile north of the CT74 Westford Airstrip in Ashford, Connecticut, and lasted for 16 minutes, covering 98 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent from 15,097 feet above sea level to 4,278 feet above sea level, a decrease of 10,819 feet in 9 minutes and covering 37 nautical miles. This was followed by another enroute level cruise from 2 miles north of Warren Township, New Jersey, which lasted for 2 minutes and covered 7 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began its descent from 3,862 feet above sea level to 1,684 feet above sea level, a decrease of 2,178 feet in 3 minutes and covering 10 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise started overhead South Amboy, New Jersey, and lasted for 3 minutes, covering 6 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent from 1,693 feet above sea level to 1,137 feet above sea level, a decrease of 556 feet in 2 minutes and covering 3 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 04R at KEWR Newark Liberty International Airport was from the southwest, heading 25.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,114 feet above ground level. The landing on runway 04R was successful, with a touchdown point 553 feet beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 131 knots, which was a little fast, but the touchdown rate was good at -164 feet per minute.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 11 feet from the centreline, and the runway rollout alignment was misaligned by 50 feet from the centreline. The total landing distance was 5,415 feet, which accounted for 77% of the runway. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 52°F and a wind speed of 17 knots at 330°, with a crosswind of 14 knots and a headwind of 10 knots.
The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 20 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 226 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 73 minutes. The aircraft used 11,287 pounds of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 727-200 aircraft successfully landed on runway 04R at KEWR Newark Liberty International Airport, but with some minor deviations from the ideal landing parameters. The aircraft was approaching the runway from the southwest, heading 25.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,114 feet above ground level (agl).
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down 553 feet beyond the touchdown zone, which is slightly off-target. The touchdown speed of 131 knots was also a bit faster than the target speed, indicating that the pilot may have applied the brakes slightly too late. However, the touchdown rate of -164 feet per minute (fpm) was within the acceptable range, indicating a smooth and controlled descent.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 52°F and a wind speed of 17 knots from a direction of 330°. This resulted in a crosswind of 14 knots and a headwind of 10 knots, which may have contributed to the slight deviations from the ideal landing parameters.
The runway length at KEWR Newark Liberty International Airport is 7,028 feet, which is more than sufficient to accommodate the aircraft's landing distance of 5,415 feet, or 77% of the runway length. However, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 50 feet from the centreline, indicating that the pilot may have applied the brakes unevenly or failed to maintain a straight course during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was successful, but with some minor deviations from the ideal parameters. The pilot's performance was satisfactory, but there is room for improvement in terms of touchdown speed and runway rollout alignment.
