Monitor your taxi speed
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,588 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 457 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Boeing 727-200 taxied from the parking area to runway 27 at KSAN San Diego International Airport in 102 minutes, covering a ground distance of 44 nm.
During the departure roll on runway 27, the aircraft used 727 m of runway, representing 31 % of the available length, and lifted off at 156 kt. Ambient conditions were 27 °C with a wind of 9 kt from 240°, including a 6 kt cross-wind component and a 6 kt head-wind component.
The initial climb commenced 1 mile west of KSAN, climbing from 1,001 ft asl to 35,938 ft asl - a gain of 34,938 ft - in 13 minutes while traversing 85 nm.
Level cruise began 1 mile north-east of Rolling Hills and lasted 7 minutes, during which the aircraft covered 60 nm.
A second climb segment started 7 miles east of CL46 Quail Lake Sky Park Airport, rising from 36,002 ft asl to 38,008 ft asl, an increase of 2,005 ft achieved in 3 minutes over a distance of 27 nm.
The subsequent cruise phase originated 2 miles south-east of Arvin, persisting for 78 minutes and encompassing 630 nm of flight.
Descent began 16 miles south-east of Estacada, Oregon, with the aircraft descending from 38,009 ft asl to 1,709 ft asl - a loss of 36,300 ft - in 27 minutes while covering 150 nm.
For the final approach to runway 34L at KSEA Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, the aircraft approached from the south on a heading of 360.0°, intercepting the glide path at 4 nm and 1,284 ft agl.
Landing on runway 34L was executed with a runway length of 2,588 m; the threshold speed was recorded at 131 kt. Touchdown occurred 457 m down the runway at 128 kt, with a vertical speed of minus 118 fpm and alignment described as very good. Local weather at the time was 26 °C with a wind of 7 kt from 260°, a 7 kt cross-wind component and a 1 kt tail-wind component.
The rollout distance measured 1,183 m, representing 46 % of the runway, and the aircraft maintained very good alignment throughout the ground run.
After landing, the aircraft taxied from the runway to the parking area in 7 minutes, traveling less than 1 nm on the ground.
In total, the flight covered 1,003 nm, required 142 minutes of elapsed time, and consumed 4,017 kg of fuel.
The Embraer E175 entered the final approach to runway 23 at KPVD Theodore Francis Green State Airport from the north-east on a heading of 211.0 ° at 4 nm and 1,238 ft agl. The approach was assessed as stabilised at the 1,000 ft gate, with gear, flaps, sink rate, glideslope and centreline all within limits. Local weather was 27 °C with wind 8 kt from 300 °, giving a 7 kt crosswind and 0 kt headwind.
At threshold the speed was slightly above target at 132 kt and the threshold height was good. During flare the aircraft carried a touchdown speed of 131 kt, described as a little fast, and the touchdown rate was very hard at minus 518 fpm. Touchdown distance was good at 223 m.
Touchdown occurred 223 m down the runway at a speed of 131 kt and a rate of minus 518 fpm. The touchdown point was slightly misaligned by 5.0 m from the centreline, and the total landing distance was 1,293 m, representing 59 % of the 2,182 m runway length.
Runway rollout alignment was very good.
To refine the already strong performance, the crew should focus on moderating the flare to achieve a smoother touchdown rate and on targeting the reference speed more closely to eliminate the slight excess in touchdown speed. Maintaining the current alignment technique will preserve the very good rollout results.
