Fixing the bounce
Fast at the threshold, normal flare, and the runway seems to refuse the aircraft. The instinctive fix - pushing it on - causes the next one. A fast aircraft forced onto the runway touches nosewheel-first or nearly so. The tell is a touchdown that feels soft followed by a bounce that steepens. Pilots fix the bounce recovery; the cause was the 10 knots at the threshold.

One stabilised approach gate for a circuit: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate is an instrument-approach check and does not apply.
At the 500 ft gate: off the runway's 2.8° glideslope.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,614 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 314 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from Cibao International Airport, the Cessna 152 began its takeoff roll on runway 11, accelerating to a liftoff speed of 63 kt in 716 meters, which represented 27% of the available runway length. The local weather conditions were favorable, with a temperature of 15 °C and a gentle tailwind of 1 kt from 270°. As the aircraft lifted off, it entered a left-hand traffic pattern, navigating the initial turn in 16 seconds and covering a distance of 1 nm.
The subsequent turns and legs of the pattern were executed smoothly, with the aircraft maintaining a steady pace. The downwind turn, which covered a distance of 1 nm, was completed at an angle of 41.4° to the runway, while the base leg turn was made at an angle of 24.2°. The final approach was initiated from the west, with the aircraft descending at a rate of 564 ft agl and maintaining a heading of 106.0°. The landing was successful, with the aircraft touching down on runway 11 at a distance of 308 m, which was within acceptable limits. The touchdown speed of 51 kt was slightly above the target, but the runway touchdown alignment was very good.
The flight was completed with a total distance of 10 nm, taking approximately 12 minutes to cover this distance. The aircraft used 3 kg of fuel during the flight, indicating a relatively efficient performance. The local weather conditions remained consistent throughout the flight, with a temperature of 15 °C and a gentle tailwind of 1 kt from 270°. Overall, the flight was executed smoothly, with the pilot demonstrating good control and navigation skills throughout the various phases of the flight.
The final approach to runway 11 at MDST Cibao International Airport from the west was executed with precision, with the aircraft maintaining a heading of 106.0° at 1 nm and 564 ft above ground level. The approach quality was satisfactory, with a good threshold height achieved. However, the threshold speed was slightly above the target, registering at 66 kt, which may have been a result of the tailwind of 1 kt.
As the aircraft touched down on the runway, the touchdown distance was good at 308 m, indicating a well-executed flare. Unfortunately, the touchdown speed was slightly too fast at 51 kt, which may have been a result of the pilot's attempt to maintain control in the presence of the tailwind. The touchdown rate, however, was smooth at -134 fpm, demonstrating good control and stability. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, with the aircraft centered on the runway.
The rollout phase was uneventful, with the aircraft maintaining its centerline alignment. The overall performance of the landing was satisfactory, with a score of 94.3%. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 15 °C and a wind of 1 kt at 270°, did not pose any significant challenges to the landing. The absence of crosswind and the presence of a slight tailwind contributed to a relatively smooth and controlled landing.
