Shorten the long landing
Ground effect becomes significant below about one wingspan of height. A Cessna 172, with a 36 ft span, enters ground effect at flare height - the float it feels in the hold-off is ground effect arriving on cue. An A320, with a span around 117 ft, has been in ground effect since before the threshold and there is no sudden cushion to feel, only a gradual reduction in induced drag that lengthens any float you allow.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,540 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,540 m of the 2,831 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 750 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Airbus A350-900 taxied from the parking area to the departure runway, a movement that required 15 minutes and covered 3 nm.
Departing KATL Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the aircraft rolled on runway 27R, achieving a takeoff distance of 1,676 m (46 % of runway) and lifting off at 163 kt; ambient temperature was 37 °C with wind 11 kt from 280°, a 2 kt crosswind component and an 11 kt headwind.
The initial climb began 1 mile south of College Park, GA, climbing from 2,043 ft asl to 42,550 ft asl-a gain of 40,507 ft-in 34 minutes while traversing 245 nm.
Level cruise commenced 1 mile north-east of FD71 O'Brien Airpark East/West Airport, Branford, FL, and persisted for 170 minutes, covering 1,404 nm.
A subsequent climb started 24 miles south of MPLL Arena Airport, Llano de Piedra, Provincia de Veraguas, Panama, raising altitude from 42,702 ft asl to 44,592 ft asl, an increase of 1,890 ft in 3 minutes over 29 nm.
The next cruise segment began 54 miles south of the same Panama airport, lasting 128 minutes and encompassing 1,043 nm.
Descent was initiated 3 miles north-east of Huarmey, Ancash, Peru, descending from 44,642 ft asl to 1,304 ft asl-a loss of 43,338 ft-in 22 minutes while covering 129 nm.
For the final approach to runway 16R at SPJC Jorge Chávez International, the aircraft approached from the north-west on a heading of 154.0° at 4 nm and 1,224 ft agl.
Landing on runway 16R, which measures 2,831 m, the threshold speed was recorded at 130 kt; touchdown occurred 327 m beyond the touchdown zone at 116 kt with a vertical speed of minus 53 fpm and a lateral offset of 4.0 m from the centreline. Local conditions were 21 °C, wind 14 kt from 150°, a 1 kt crosswind and a 14 kt headwind. The total landing distance was 1,453 m (51 % of runway).
Runway rollout alignment was described as very good, completing the landing phase without deviation.
The aircraft taxied from the runway to the parking area in 3 minutes, covering less than 1 nm.
In total, the flight covered 2,859 nm, required 374 minutes of airborne time, and consumed 31,015 kg of fuel.
The Airbus A320 conducted the final approach to runway 20R at WSSS Singapore Changi Airport from the north on a heading of 203.0 ° at 4 nm and 1,283 ft agl. The approach was assessed as stabilised at the 1,000 ft gate, with gear, flaps, sink rate, glideslope and centreline all within limits.
At threshold the aircraft displayed a good threshold height and a good threshold speed of 138 kt. Touchdown distance was good at 350 m, while touchdown speed of 133 kt was a little fast and the touchdown rate was firm at minus 387 fpm. Runway touchdown alignment was very good.
The aircraft touched down 350 m down the runway at a speed of 133 kt, slightly above the threshold speed, and the vertical rate of minus 387 fpm indicated a firm contact with the surface. Alignment remained very good throughout the touchdown phase.
Rollout covered a total landing distance of 1,059 m, representing 32 % of the 3,262 m runway, and runway rollout alignment was perfect. Local weather was 30 °C with wind 2 kt from 189 °, crosswind 0 kt and headwind 2 kt.
To tighten the already strong performance, reduce touchdown speed toward the 138 kt threshold value and aim for a gentler vertical rate to achieve a smoother touchdown while preserving the excellent alignment already demonstrated.
