MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Arrival
Begin the flare with progressive back pressure and keep it coming until the sink is arrested, rather than flying it on flat.
What happened: The nose was barely raised in the flare and little of the sink was taken out, flying the aircraft onto the runway. This pattern usually carries through to a firm touchdown with a noticeable sink rate.
Watch for: Vertical speed indicator: a smoothly reducing sink through the normal flare band, not a steady rate into the runway.
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,404 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 367 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Airbus A320 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Geneva Cointrin International Airport, taking approximately 8 minutes and covering a distance of 2 nautical miles. The departure roll took place on runway 04, with the aircraft lifting off after a takeoff distance of 1,921 meters, which accounted for 54% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 167 knots.
As the aircraft took to the skies, it encountered local weather conditions of 14°C temperature and a wind speed of 3 knots at 51°. The crosswind was negligible, while the headwind was 3 knots. The enroute climb began overhead Ferney-Voltaire in France, where the aircraft ascended from 2,374 feet above sea level to 34,954 feet, an increase of 32,580 feet in 21 minutes, covering a distance of 103 nautical miles.
Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, starting 1 mile southwest of Saint-Hilaire-Cusson-la-Valmitte in France. This phase lasted for 93 minutes, during which the aircraft covered a distance of 651 nautical miles. The enroute descent began overhead Redondo in Portugal, where the aircraft descended from 35,225 feet to 1,320 feet, a decrease of 33,904 feet in 20 minutes, covering a distance of 100 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 10 at Faro Airport took place from the west, with the aircraft heading 100.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,287 feet above ground level. The landing on runway 10 was successful, with the aircraft touching down at a speed of 136 knots, which was slightly faster than the target speed. The touchdown distance was 360 meters, and the runway touchdown alignment was perfect.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 16°C temperature and a wind speed of 10 knots at 90°. The crosswind was 2 knots, while the headwind was 10 knots. The total landing distance was 1,432 meters, accounting for 60% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good, and the aircraft taxied to the parking area from the runway in 4 minutes, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
In total, the flight covered a distance of 863 nautical miles, taking 147 minutes and consuming 5,753 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at LPFR Faro Airport, achieving a score of 96.2%. The aircraft approached the runway from the west, heading 100.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,287 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was made to runway 10, which has a length of 2,404 meters.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down at a speed of 136 knots, which was slightly above the target speed. However, the touchdown distance of 360 meters was considered good. The threshold height at 56 feet agl was slightly above the target, but the threshold speed of 139 knots was within the acceptable range.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 16°C and a wind speed of 10 knots from a direction of 90°. This resulted in a crosswind of 2 knots and a headwind of 10 knots. The aircraft's touchdown rate was hard at -499 feet per minute (fpm), which may indicate a slightly aggressive approach.
Despite the slightly fast touchdown speed and hard touchdown rate, the aircraft's runway touchdown alignment was perfect. The total landing distance of 1,432 meters was 60% of the runway length, which is within the acceptable range. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, indicating that the aircraft was well-controlled during the landing roll.
Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft achieving a high score of 96.2%. However, there is room for improvement in terms of touchdown speed and touchdown rate to achieve a more optimal landing.
