MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,450 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 420 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 16 at Mount Magnet Airport (YMOG), located in the State of Western Australia, Australia. The aircraft, an Airbus A32NX, took off with a takeoff distance of 945 meters, which was 52% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 156 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 34 degrees Celsius, a wind speed of 15 knots at 156 degrees, with no crosswind but a headwind of 15 knots.
As the aircraft climbed away from Mount Magnet Airport, it began its enroute climb, which started overhead the airport and continued for 6 minutes, covering a distance of 34 nautical miles. During this time, the aircraft climbed from an altitude of 2,342 feet above sea level to 20,861 feet above sea level, an increase of 18,519 feet. The enroute climb phase was followed by a level cruise, which started 4 miles west of Kirkalocka Daggar Hills (YKRK) and lasted for 25 minutes, covering a distance of 166 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began its enroute descent, which started 12 miles north of Coondle and continued for 6 minutes, covering a distance of 9 nautical miles. During this time, the aircraft descended from an altitude of 20,805 feet above sea level to 3,027 feet above sea level, a decrease of 17,779 feet. The enroute descent phase was followed by another level cruise, which started 6 miles south-east of Bindoon (YBON) and lasted for 9 minutes, covering a distance of 27 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began its final descent, which started 2 miles south-east of Bullsbrook and continued for 3 minutes, covering a distance of 10 nautical miles. During this time, the aircraft descended from an altitude of 3,035 feet above sea level to 1,316 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,719 feet.
The final approach to runway 21 at Perth International Airport (YPPH) was made from the north, with the aircraft heading 194.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,250 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 21, which had a length of 3,450 meters. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 27 degrees Celsius, a wind speed of 17 knots at 210 degrees, with a crosswind of 5 knots and a headwind of 16 knots.
The landing was successful, with a touchdown distance of 421 meters, which was 32% of the runway length. The touchdown speed was 127 knots, and the touchdown rate was very hard at -543 feet per minute. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.8 meters from the centreline. The runway rollout alignment was very good, and the taxiing to the parking from the runway took 2 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile.
Overall, the flight was completed in 56 minutes, covering a total distance of 250 nautical miles and using 2,079 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A32NX successfully landed at YPPH Perth International Airport, achieving a score of 93.0%. The aircraft approached the runway from the north, heading 194.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,250 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was executed with a good threshold height, indicating that the aircraft was properly configured for landing.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft maintained a good threshold speed of 129 knots, which is within the recommended range for a safe landing. The touchdown distance of 421 meters was also within acceptable limits, demonstrating the pilot's ability to control the aircraft's descent and speed. However, the touchdown speed of 127 knots was slightly below the recommended range, which may indicate a slightly hard landing.
One area of concern was the touchdown rate, which was very hard at -543 feet per minute (fpm). This suggests that the aircraft may have touched down with a higher than recommended rate of descent, which can put additional stress on the landing gear and potentially lead to a bumpy ride for passengers. Additionally, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.8 meters from the centerline, which may indicate a slight deviation from the intended landing path.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 27°C and a wind speed of 17 knots at 210°. The crosswind component was relatively low at 5 knots, while the headwind component was 16 knots, which helped to reduce the aircraft's ground speed and make the landing more manageable.
The total landing distance of 1,120 meters was 32% of the runway length, which is within acceptable limits. The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the pilot was able to maintain control of the aircraft during the rollout phase and bring it to a safe stop. Overall, while there were some minor issues with the landing, the Airbus A32NX performed well and the pilot demonstrated good skills and judgment.
