MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Arrival
Begin the flare with progressive back pressure and keep it coming until the sink is arrested, rather than flying it on flat.
What happened: The nose was barely raised in the flare and little of the sink was taken out, flying the aircraft onto the runway. This pattern usually carries through to a firm touchdown with a noticeable sink rate.
Watch for: Vertical speed indicator: a smoothly reducing sink through the normal flare band, not a steady rate into the runway.
There are several things that can go wrong during the flare, carrying too much speed over the threshold, starting the flare at the wrong height and inconsistent flight control inputs, all contribute to a poor flare resulting in a hard touchdown or a float down the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,653 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,653 m of the 3,507 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 643 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from Alice Springs Airport, the Airbus A320 began its journey by taxiing from the parking area to the runway, a process that took approximately 8 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. Upon reaching runway 30, the aircraft initiated its departure roll, accelerating down the 1,475-meter stretch of the 2,450-meter runway, which accounted for 61% of its length. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 151 knots, taking advantage of the favorable headwind of 4 knots.
As the aircraft climbed away from Alice Springs, it began its enroute climb, which started approximately 1 mile northwest of the airport. The climb phase saw the aircraft ascend from an initial altitude of 2,780 feet above sea level to a cruising altitude of 38,393 feet, an increase of 35,614 feet in just 22 minutes, covering a distance of 173 nautical miles. Following a 74-mile journey south of Atula Airport, the aircraft entered its enroute level cruise phase, which lasted for 87 minutes and covered a distance of 831 nautical miles. As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its enroute descent, which started approximately 1 mile north of Memerambi, and saw the aircraft descend from 38,102 feet to 1,301 feet above sea level, a decrease of 36,801 feet in 20 minutes, covering a distance of 122 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 01R at Brisbane International Airport was initiated from the southwest, with the aircraft heading 27.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,277 feet above ground level. The aircraft landed on the 3,518-meter runway, with a touchdown point 223 meters beyond the touchdown zone, at a speed of 125 knots, which was slightly faster than the recommended threshold speed. The touchdown rate was fair at -265 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 5.7 meters from the centerline. Following a successful landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, a process that took approximately 2 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 1,134 nautical miles, taking 140 minutes, and the aircraft used 5,005 kilograms of fuel during the journey.
The final approach to runway 01R at YBBN Brisbane International Airport from the south west was executed with good quality, with the aircraft maintaining a heading of 27.0° at 4 nm and 1,277 ft above ground level. The threshold height was satisfactory, allowing for a smooth transition to the landing phase. The threshold speed was also well-managed, with the aircraft touching down at 131 kt, within the acceptable range.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's speed was a little fast at 125 kt, resulting in a fair touchdown rate of -265 fpm. The touchdown point was 223 m beyond the touchdown zone, indicating a slight overrun. However, the runway touchdown position was only slightly misaligned by 5.7 m from the centreline, demonstrating good control during the landing phase. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 19 °C and a wind of 9 kt at 319°, contributed to a relatively straightforward landing.
The total landing distance of 1,567 m, accounting for 45% of the runway length, was within acceptable limits. The runway rollout alignment was very good, showcasing the pilot's ability to maintain control and stability during the critical phase of the landing. Overall, the landing was scored 90.8%, reflecting a high level of proficiency and adherence to standard operating procedures.
