Flight Score
Arrival
Reduce power earlier on final to bleed speed back to 140 kt before crossing the threshold.
What happened: You crossed the threshold at 153 kt, 13 kt above the 140 kt target.
Watch for: Airspeed, targeting 140 kt at the threshold.
See Arrival Landing
Every knot above Vref is stored kinetic energy, and energy stored at the threshold must be dissipated in ground effect before the aeroplane will stop flying. Because kinetic energy scales with the square of speed, the excess you must dissipate grows fast. At a 45-knot approach, five knots hot is over a tenth more speed and roughly a quarter more energy to get rid of in ground effect. This is why the fix is never in the flare. It was decided three miles earlier, on final, at the airspeed indicator.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,586 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,586 m of the 2,996 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 352 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Airbus A320 taxied from the parking area to runway 19L at VTBS Suvarnabhumi Airport, a movement that lasted 14 minutes and covered 4 nm.
During the departure roll on runway 19L, the aircraft accelerated to a liftoff speed of 164 kt and left the ground after traveling a takeoff distance of 2,249 m, which represented 54 % of the runway; ambient temperature was 35 °C with wind 6 kt from 210°, a 2 kt cross-wind component and a 6 kt head-wind component.
Climb commenced 2 mi south of VTBS, with the airplane climbing from 981 ft asl to 32,003 ft asl, an altitude gain of 31,022 ft achieved in 21 minutes while covering 133 nm.
Level cruise began 4 mi north of Prachuap Khiri Khan and continued for 16 minutes, during which the aircraft flew 124 nm at cruise altitude.
Descent was initiated 17 mi east of Lang Suan, descending from 31,869 ft asl to 1,405 ft asl, a loss of 30,464 ft over 24 minutes and a distance of 126 nm.
The final approach to runway 27 at VTSP Phuket International Airport was flown from the east on a heading of 264.0°, intercepting the approach at 4 nm and 1,339 ft agl.
Landing on runway 27 was executed with a threshold speed of 154 kt, a touchdown distance of 353 m, and a touchdown speed of 145 kt; the aircraft touched down with a firm rate of minus 321 fpm and maintained very good runway alignment; local weather reported a temperature of 27 °C, wind 8 kt from 255°, a 1 kt cross-wind and an 8 kt head-wind.
The rollout covered a total landing distance of 1,510 m, equivalent to 50 % of the runway, and the runway-rollout alignment was perfect.
After exiting the runway, the aircraft taxied to the parking area in 2 minutes, covering less than 1 nm.
In total, the flight covered 395 nm, required 76 minutes of elapsed time, and consumed 2,962 kg of fuel.
The Airbus A320 established a final approach to runway 27 at VTSP Phuket International Airport from the east, tracking a heading of 264.0° at 4 nm and 1,339 ft agl. Local weather was 27 °C with wind 8 kt from 255°, providing a 1 kt cross-wind component and an 8 kt head-wind component.
Threshold height was good and the threshold speed was well above target at 154 kt.
Touchdown occurred 353 m down the runway, with a touchdown speed of 145 kt that was fast and a firm touchdown rate of minus 321 fpm. Runway touchdown alignment was very good.
Total landing distance was 1,510 m, representing 50 % of the 2,995 m runway, and runway rollout alignment was perfect.
The high score of 98.2 % indicates a strong performance; focus on reducing the approach speed to meet the target threshold speed and moderating the flare to lower the touchdown speed for even smoother landings.
