Improve the taxi
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 8,680 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 1,305 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 8 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-800, then departed from runway 33 at LOWS Salzburg Airport. The takeoff distance was 3,749 feet, which accounted for 49% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 150 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 53°F and a wind speed of 7 knots from a direction of 280°. The crosswind component was 6 knots, while the headwind component was 4 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile south of Freilassing in Bavaria, Germany. The climb took the aircraft from an altitude of 2,417 feet above sea level to 36,646 feet above sea level, an increase of 34,228 feet, in 20 minutes and covering a distance of 118 nautical miles.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started overhead Salorno in Trentino-Alto Adige, Italy. This phase lasted for 45 minutes and covered a distance of 347 nautical miles. The enroute descent then began 31 miles south of Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rhone in Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur, France. The descent took the aircraft from an altitude of 37,179 feet above sea level to 1,265 feet above sea level, a decrease of 35,915 feet, in 25 minutes and covering a distance of 143 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 24L at LEBL Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport was made from the north-east, heading 246.0° at an altitude of 1,245 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway. The landing was made on runway 24L, which had a length of 8,680 feet. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also satisfactory at 136 knots. The touchdown distance was 1,303 feet, and the touchdown speed was 129 knots, both of which were good. The touchdown rate was smooth at -134 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was perfect.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 57°F and a wind speed of 7 knots from a direction of 100°. The crosswind component was 4 knots, while the tailwind component was 5 knots. The total landing distance was 4,474 feet, which accounted for 52% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took just 1 minute and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 615 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 1 hour and 2 minutes. The aircraft used 9,066 pounds of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-800 aircraft successfully landed at LEBL Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport, showcasing a high level of precision and control. The final approach to runway 24L was executed from the north east, with the aircraft heading 246.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,245 feet above ground level (agl). This approach was marked by a high score of 98.7%, indicating a nearly flawless execution of the landing procedure.
Upon landing, the aircraft demonstrated a good threshold height, which is a critical factor in ensuring a safe and controlled touchdown. The threshold speed of 136 knots was also within the acceptable range, further contributing to a smooth and stable landing. The touchdown distance of 1,303 feet was also satisfactory, and the touchdown speed of 129 knots was well within the recommended limits. The touchdown rate of -134 feet per minute (fpm) was smooth, indicating a gentle and controlled descent.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 57°F and a wind speed of 7 knots at 100°. The crosswind component was minimal at 4 knots, while the tailwind component was 5 knots. These conditions allowed the aircraft to maintain a stable and controlled approach, ultimately resulting in a perfect runway touchdown alignment.
The total landing distance of 4,474 feet was 52% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. This indicates that the pilot's skills and the aircraft's performance were well-matched, resulting in a safe and efficient landing. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect, demonstrating the pilot's ability to maintain control and stability throughout the landing process. Overall, this landing was a testament to the pilot's expertise and the aircraft's capabilities, showcasing a high level of precision and control.
