A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: seven checks where the approach path is 152 m above the runway. The 305 m gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
At the 152 m gate: wings not level.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,529 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,529 m of the 2,561 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 479 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
This flight, operated by an FFX P180 II aircraft with dynamic registration N9851, began its journey at LIPB Bolzano Airport, where the aircraft departed runway 19. Following a 7-minute taxiing period from the parking to the runway, the plane took off at a liftoff speed of 123 kt, covering a takeoff distance of 976 meters, which accounted for 80% of the runway length.
As the aircraft climbed, it reached an altitude of 8,837 meters above sea level, increasing from 538 meters at the start of the climb. The climb period lasted 19 minutes, covering a distance of approximately 60 nautical miles. Once at cruising altitude, the aircraft entered an enroute level cruise, which was initiated over San Felice del Benaco in Lombardia, Italy, and lasted for 21 minutes. During this period, the plane covered a distance of 110 nautical miles.
The flight then began its descent from the cruising altitude. The first descent, which covered a decrease of 3,471.3 meters in altitude, started 1 mile north of Mioglia in Liguria, Italy, and lasted 7 minutes, covering a distance of 39 nautical miles. After the initial descent, the aircraft entered another short enroute level cruise period, lasting only 2 minutes, but covering 8 nautical miles before beginning another descent.
During this descent, the aircraft decreased from an altitude of 5,213 meters above sea level to 1,214 meters, which lasted 14 minutes and covered a distance of 35 nautical miles. Following this descent, the plane again entered an enroute level cruise period, lasting 2 minutes, but covering only 6 nautical miles.
Another descent was initiated, this time from an altitude of 1,211 meters to 920 meters, lasting 2 minutes and covering a short distance of 6 nautical miles. The subsequent enroute level cruise, lasting 2 minutes, covered 5 nautical miles, and yet another descent began.
The descent from 910 meters to 124 meters lasted only 4 minutes, covering a distance of 9 nautical miles. With a smooth descent, the aircraft then turned towards its final approach to runway 22R at Nice-Côte d'Azur Airport (LFMN).
During the final approach, the plane, with a heading of 220.0 degrees and an altitude of 118.0 meters above ground level, started its descent towards the runway. Touchdown occurred at a speed of 110 kt and a distance beyond the touchdown zone of 51 meters. The pilot maintained a smooth touchdown rate of -0.8 m/s. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.8 meters from the centerline.
Following the landing, the aircraft took 4 minutes to taxi to the parking from the runway, covering less than 1 nautical mile. The total landing distance was 1,437 meters, accounting for 56% of the runway length, and the runway rollout alignment was very good.
The aircraft's performance was impressive, completing the journey from Bolzano to Nice-Côte d'Azur with a total flight distance of 283 nautical miles in 82 minutes, while consuming 469 kilograms of fuel.
The aircraft FFX P180 II with the dynamic registration N9851 executed a successful landing at LFMN Nice-Côte d'Azur Airport. Approaching from the north east on heading 220.0°, the aircraft was at an altitude of 118.0 meters above ground level (agl) and a distance of 1 nautical mile from the runway. The final approach to runway 22R demonstrated a high level of professionalism and control.
The target threshold height of 14.5 meters agl was exceeded slightly, recording 19.3 meters agl. This could potentially impact the accuracy of the touchdown prediction. The required threshold speed was 124 knots, which was not achieved; however, a notable touchdown speed of 110 knots was recorded. This relatively low landing speed indicates a smooth approach, reflected by the low touchdown rate of -0.8 meters per second.
On the runway, the aircraft touched down 51 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone. This minor deviation is considered manageable, and the runway touchdown position was only slightly off-center, deviating by 3.8 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions during the landing included a temperature of 21°C, with a headwind of 10 knots from 219° and a minimal crosswind of just 1 knot.
Upon landing, the aircraft required a total distance of 1,437 meters to come to a stop, with the rollout alignment showing very good results. Despite some minor deviations from the target speeds and positions, the overall performance of the pilot demonstrates excellent skill and control, achieving a high score of 95.5%. This level of proficiency ensures a safe and efficient landing operation, even under less-than-ideal conditions.
