Shorten the long landing
Ground effect becomes significant below about one wingspan of height. A Cessna 172, with a 36 ft span, enters ground effect at flare height - the float it feels in the hold-off is ground effect arriving on cue. An A320, with a span around 117 ft, has been in ground effect since before the threshold and there is no sudden cushion to feel, only a gradual reduction in induced drag that lengthens any float you allow.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 2,046 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 2,046 m of the 2,441 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 1,179 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight on the Boeing 737-MAX8 began with a 32-minute taxi from the parking area to the runway at ENGM Oslo Airport, Gardermoen, covering 8 nm. The departure roll took place on runway 19R, with a takeoff distance of 1,437 m, representing 40% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 167 kn. The local weather at the time of departure was 18 °C with a 1 kn wind coming from 270°, resulting in a minimal crosswind and headwind.
The enroute climb started 1 mile south of ENGM Oslo Airport and lasted 12 minutes, covering 72 nm. The aircraft climbed from 1,703 ft asl to 30,000 ft asl, an increase of 28,297 ft. The enroute level cruise spanned 2 minutes and covered 14 nm, 13 miles south of ENDI Geilo Airport Dagali Dagali.
The enroute descent began 17 miles southwest of ENDI Geilo Airport Dagali Dagali, lasting 20 minutes and covering 88 nm. The aircraft descended from 29,888 ft asl to 1,477 ft asl, a decrease of 28,411 ft.
The final approach to runway 17 at ENBR Bergen Airport, Flesland, was from the north at a heading of 170.0°, 4 nm away, and at 1,310 ft agl. The landing on runway 17 at ENBR Bergen Airport had a runway length of 2,441 m. The touchdown point was 763 m beyond the designated zone, with a good touchdown speed of 128 kn. However, the touchdown rate was noted as very hard at -519 ft/m. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, but the total landing distance was 1,965 m, comprising 81% of the runway. The rollout alignment was slightly off by 10.3 m from the centerline.
Upon landing, the local weather was recorded as 15 °C, with a 1 kn wind from 270°, resulting in similar minimal crosswind and headwind conditions. The taxi from the runway to the parking area took 1 minute, covering less than 1 nm. The total flight distance was 188 nm, lasting 46 minutes and consuming 2,089 kg of fuel.
First and foremost, congratulations on achieving an aircraft landing score of 82.1%! While there were a few areas that could be improved upon, there were also many strengths in your approach.
Starting with the Approach Phase, it is commendable that you had good glideslope alignment. This demonstrates your skill in maintaining the correct descent path towards the runway. Additionally, although your threshold speed was slightly above your target of 140 kn, this can easily be adjusted with some minor corrections in future landings.
Moving on to the Landing Phase, it is noted that your threshold height at 65 ft agl was above target. This suggests a slightly higher approach than desired, but it is still within a safe margin. One aspect that could use some improvement is the landing flare, which was noted as very poor. A proper landing flare is crucial for a smooth touchdown, so focusing on this area could greatly enhance your overall landing performance.
In the Touchdown Phase, there were both strengths and areas for improvement. The touchdown rate was very hard at -519 ft/m, which may have resulted in a rough landing experience. However, your touchdown speed at 128 kn was within an acceptable range, showing good control during the landing. It is also mentioned that the touchdown point was 763 m beyond the touchdown zone, indicating the need to work on aiming for a more precise touchdown.
Despite these areas for improvement, it is worth highlighting that your runway touchdown alignment was perfect. This demonstrates your ability to maintain accuracy in aligning the aircraft with the runway, which is essential for a safe landing.
Overall, your landing score of 82.1% is a solid achievement, and with some targeted practice on the identified areas, you can further refine your skills and aim for an even higher score in future landings. Keep up the good work, and continue to strive for excellence in your aircraft operations.
