Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,394 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 382 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft, an Airbus A319, taxiing from the parking area to the runway at LEBL Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport. This process took 11 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The departure roll took place on runway 24R, with the aircraft lifting off after covering 57% of the runway's length. The takeoff distance was 1,671 meters, and the liftoff speed was 168 knots.
As the aircraft took to the skies, it encountered local weather conditions of 14°C temperature and a wind speed of 14 knots at 300°. The crosswind component was 12 knots, while the headwind component was 8 knots. The enroute climb began overhead the airport, with the aircraft ascending from 1,010 feet above sea level to 34,722 feet above sea level, a total increase of 33,713 feet. This climb took 18 minutes and covered a distance of 67 nautical miles.
Once the aircraft reached cruising altitude, it entered a level cruise phase, which lasted for 50 minutes and covered a distance of 350 nautical miles. This phase began 14 miles southeast of Llafranc, a town in the Catalunya region of Spain. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, which started overhead Thise, a town in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comte region of France. The descent took 22 minutes and covered a distance of 102 nautical miles, with the aircraft descending from 34,927 feet above sea level to 1,785 feet above sea level.
The final approach to runway 23 at LFST Strasbourg Airport took place from the northeast, with the aircraft heading 229.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,272 feet above ground level. The landing on runway 23 was successful, with the aircraft touching down at a speed of 125 knots. The touchdown distance was 381 meters, and the runway touchdown alignment was perfect. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 0°C temperature and a wind speed of 2 knots at 330°.
The total landing distance was 1,083 meters, which accounted for 45% of the runway's length. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect. After landing, the aircraft taxiied to the parking area, taking 5 minutes and covering less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 529 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 106 minutes. The aircraft used 3,854 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A319 successfully landed at LFST Strasbourg Airport, achieving a high score of 98.5%. The aircraft approached the runway from the north east, heading 229.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,272 feet above ground level (agl). The pilot executed a precise final approach, taking into account the local weather conditions.
The temperature at the time of landing was 0°C, with a wind speed of 2 knots from 330°. This resulted in a negligible crosswind component of 2 knots and a headwind of 0 knots. The aircraft's speed and altitude were well-managed, allowing for a smooth touchdown on runway 23, which has a length of 2,394 meters.
The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed of 130 knots was also satisfactory. However, the touchdown speed of 125 knots was slightly faster than ideal, which may have contributed to a firm touchdown rate of -366 feet per minute (fpm). Despite this, the runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft throughout the landing.
The touchdown distance of 381 meters was within acceptable limits, and the total landing distance of 1,083 meters was only 45% of the runway length. This suggests that the pilot was able to bring the aircraft to a stop quickly and efficiently, with a perfect runway rollout alignment. Overall, the landing was executed with precision and control, resulting in a high score of 98.5%.
