Maintain the centreline
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,778 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 334 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft, a CJ Simulations R-Fal M, taxiing from the parking to the runway at LFQQ Lille Airport. This process took 7 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The aircraft then departed from runway 26, with a takeoff distance of 497 meters, which is 20% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 165 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 19 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 10 knots at a direction of 10 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 9 knots and a tailwind of 4 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile south of Templemars, Hauts-de-France, France. The climb took the aircraft from an altitude of 586 feet above sea level to 1,436 feet above sea level, an increase of 850 feet, in just 1 minute, covering a distance of 5 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started overhead Bersee, Hauts-de-France, France, and lasted for 2 minutes, covering a distance of 11 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting overhead Villers-au-Tertre, Hauts-de-France, France. The descent took the aircraft from an altitude of 1,726 feet above sea level to 1,247 feet above sea level, a decrease of 479 feet, in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 7 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began another enroute climb, starting overhead Marquion, Hauts-de-France, France. The climb took the aircraft from an altitude of 1,204 feet above sea level to 3,341 feet above sea level, an increase of 2,137 feet, in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 13 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise then started overhead Saint-Nicolas, Hauts-de-France, France, and lasted for 2 minutes, covering a distance of 14 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began its final enroute descent, starting overhead Bethune, Hauts-de-France, France. The descent took the aircraft from an altitude of 3,653 feet above sea level to 686 feet above sea level, a decrease of 2,967 feet, in 3 minutes, covering a distance of 7 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 22 at LFQT Merville-Calonne Airport, approaching from the north east at a heading of 214.0 degrees, at an altitude of 607 feet above ground level, and 1 nautical mile from the runway.
The landing on runway 22 at LFQT Merville-Calonne Airport was successful, with a touchdown point 255 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was a little fast at 155 knots, but the touchdown rate was firm at -361 feet per minute. However, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 8.5 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 18 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 9 knots at a direction of 358 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 6 knots and a tailwind of 7 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,386 meters, which is 78% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was also misaligned by 23.1 meters from the centerline. The aircraft then taxied to the parking from the runway, taking 1 minute and covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 63 nautical miles, taking 18 minutes, and the aircraft used 875 kilograms of fuel.
The CJ Simulations R-Fal M aircraft successfully landed at LFQT Merville-Calonne Airport, but with some notable deviations from ideal landing parameters. The aircraft approached the runway from the north east, heading 214.0° at 1 nm and 607 ft above ground level (agl). The final approach was made to runway 22, which has a length of 1,778 m.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's threshold speed was significantly above the target speed, reaching 160 kt. However, the touchdown point was located 255 m beyond the designated touchdown zone, indicating a slight overextension of the landing. The touchdown speed of 155 kt was also slightly faster than desired, and the touchdown rate was firm at -361 fpm, which may have contributed to the overextension.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 18 °C, with a wind speed of 9 kt blowing from 358°. This resulted in a crosswind of 6 kt and a tailwind of 7 kt, which may have affected the aircraft's alignment and touchdown point. The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 8.5 m from the centreline, and the runway rollout alignment was also misaligned by 23.1 m from the centreline.
The total landing distance was 1,386 m, which represents 78% of the runway length. While this is not an excessively long landing distance, it does indicate that the aircraft's touchdown point was not ideally located. Overall, the landing was successful, but with some notable deviations from ideal parameters that may be worth addressing in future training or operations.
