Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,391 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 128 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The 2.65 G arrival is the firm side of smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 8 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-MAX8, then departed from runway 06 at EHRD Rotterdam The Hague Airport. The takeoff distance was 1,665 meters, which is 93% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 168 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 21 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 8 knots at a direction of 30 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 4 knots and a headwind of 7 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting overhead Schiebroek in the Netherlands. The climb took 21 minutes and covered a distance of 115 nautical miles, during which the aircraft ascended from 1,038 feet above sea level to 35,603 feet above sea level, an increase of 34,565 feet.
After reaching the cruising altitude, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, starting overhead Radevormwald in Germany. This phase lasted for 44 minutes and covered a distance of 342 nautical miles. The aircraft then began another climb, this time starting 1 mile west of Tweng in Austria. The climb took only 3 minutes and covered a distance of 28 nautical miles, during which the aircraft ascended from 35,478 feet above sea level to 37,440 feet above sea level, an increase of 1,962 feet.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, starting 1 mile northeast of Deutsch Griffen in Austria. This phase lasted for 92 minutes and covered a distance of 722 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent, starting 10 miles northwest of Mesta in Greece. The descent took 26 minutes and covered a distance of 118 nautical miles, during which the aircraft descended from 38,144 feet above sea level to 1,721 feet above sea level, a decrease of 36,423 feet.
The final approach to runway 32 at LGKO Kos Airport was made from the southeast, with a heading of 328.0 degrees at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,310 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 32, which has a length of 2,391 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also good at 150 knots. The touchdown distance was good at 131 meters, and the touchdown speed was 149 knots, which was also good.
However, the touchdown rate was very heavy at -1,293 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.1 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 27 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 11 knots at a direction of 303 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 5 knots and a headwind of 10 knots. The total landing distance was 1,155 meters, which is 48% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned by 8.8 meters from the centerline.
The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took only 3 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 1,333 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 197 minutes. The aircraft used 519 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-MAX8 aircraft successfully landed at LGKO Kos Airport, with a final approach from the south east, heading 328.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,310 feet above ground level. The aircraft touched down on runway 32, which has a length of 2,391 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed of 150 knots was also satisfactory.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's distance was 131 meters, and the speed at the time of touchdown was 149 knots, both of which were considered good. However, the touchdown rate was quite heavy, at -1,293 feet per minute, which may indicate a slightly aggressive approach. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 3.1 meters, which could be a minor issue but did not seem to affect the overall landing.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were warm, with a temperature of 27°C, and a moderate wind blowing at 11 knots from 303°. The crosswind component was relatively light at 5 knots, while the headwind component was 10 knots, which may have contributed to the slightly heavy touchdown rate. The total landing distance was 1,155 meters, which is approximately 48% of the runway length.
After touchdown, the aircraft's rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned from the centerline by 8.8 meters, which may indicate a minor issue with the aircraft's directional control during the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was considered successful, but there were some minor issues with the touchdown rate and alignment.
