MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,144 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 589 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 4 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-900, then departed from runway 01L at General Mitchell International Airport (KMKE) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The takeoff distance was 616 meters, which accounted for 23% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 158 knots.
As the aircraft took to the skies, it encountered local weather conditions with a temperature of 7 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 3 knots at 0 degrees. The crosswind was negligible, but there was a headwind of 3 knots. The enroute climb began approximately 1 mile west of Cudahy, Wisconsin, and the aircraft ascended from an altitude of 1,771 feet above sea level to 34,744 feet above sea level, an increase of 32,973 feet in 29 minutes. This climb covered a distance of 219 nautical miles.
Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 5 miles northeast of Burgess Shadle Airport (55D) in Michigan. This phase lasted for 125 minutes and covered a distance of 755 nautical miles. The enroute descent began 12 miles west of Havelock Airport (CCC5) in New Brunswick, Canada, and the aircraft descended from 34,256 feet above sea level to 1,435 feet above sea level, a decrease of 32,821 feet in 16 minutes. This descent covered a distance of 102 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 03 at Charlottetown Airport (CYYG) was made from the south, with a heading of 8.0 degrees at an altitude of 1,269 feet above ground level. The aircraft landed on the runway, which had a length of 2,144 meters. The threshold height was above the target, and the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 150 knots. The touchdown point was 183 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 142 knots, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was firm at -368 feet per minute.
The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 9.7 meters from the centerline, and the local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 12 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 15 knots at 220 degrees. The crosswind was 8 knots, and there was a tailwind of 13 knots. The total landing distance was 1,300 meters, which accounted for 61% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good.
The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took less than 1 minute and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 1,084 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 143 minutes. The aircraft used 7,516 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-900 aircraft successfully landed at CYYG Charlottetown Airport, but with some minor deviations from the ideal landing parameters. The final approach was initiated from the south, heading 8.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,269 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on runway 03, which has a length of 2,144 meters.
Upon landing, the threshold height was found to be above the target, indicating that the aircraft was slightly higher than desired when it reached the runway threshold. Additionally, the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 150 knots, suggesting that the aircraft was moving at a slightly faster pace than intended when it reached the threshold. The touchdown point was 183 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is a deviation from the ideal landing spot.
The touchdown speed of 142 knots was a little fast, indicating that the aircraft was moving at a higher speed than desired when it touched down on the runway. However, the touchdown rate was firm at -368 feet per minute (fpm), which is a desirable rate of descent. The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 9.7 meters from the centerline, which is a minor deviation from the ideal alignment.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 12°C, with a wind speed of 15 knots at a direction of 220°. The crosswind component was 8 knots, while the tailwind component was 13 knots. The total landing distance was 1,300 meters, which is 61% of the runway length. This is a relatively short landing distance, indicating that the aircraft was able to stop quickly after touchdown.
One of the notable aspects of this landing was the excellent runway rollout alignment, which was described as "very good." This suggests that the aircraft was able to maintain a stable and aligned path after touchdown, which is an important factor in ensuring a safe and controlled landing. Overall, while there were some minor deviations from the ideal landing parameters, the Boeing 737-900 aircraft was able to land safely and efficiently at CYYG Charlottetown Airport.
