Improve the pattern downwind leg
The 45-degrees-behind-the-wing cue assumes you can turn your head and use peripheral vision. Downwind spacing cues like "put the wingtip halfway up the strut" assume a fixed, known eyepoint. Neither survives a monitor unmodified. If you fly on a fixed monitor, stop pretending and fly a numbers-based circuit.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate for a circuit: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate is an instrument-approach check and does not apply.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,193 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 1,193 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 242 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 08 at EHTE Teuge Airport, where the aircraft, a PA28 Warrior II, accelerated down the runway and lifted off at a speed of 57 kt. The takeoff distance was 39 meters, which is just 3% of the runway length. The local weather conditions at the time of takeoff were characterized by a temperature of 15 °C and a gentle wind blowing at 2 kt from a direction of 270 °, resulting in a slight tailwind.
As the aircraft entered the traffic pattern, it followed a right-hand pattern entry from runway 08, completing the maneuver in just 171 seconds and covering a distance of less than 1 nm. The right-hand pattern crosswind was also executed, with the aircraft covering a distance of 1 nm in 52 seconds. The pattern downwind turn was completed at an angle of 45 degrees to the runway, with the aircraft covering a distance of 3 nm. The downwind leg itself was short, lasting just 9 seconds and covering a distance of less than 1 nm.
The final approach to runway 26 was initiated from the east, with the aircraft flying at a heading of 291.0 ° and an altitude of 1,045 ft above ground level (agl). However, the pilot decided to execute a go-around, which was completed at the same altitude. The landing was eventually made on runway 26, which has a length of 1,193 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was slightly below the target speed of 61 kt. The touchdown distance was good, at 240 meters, and the touchdown speed was also good, at 51 kt. The touchdown rate was perfect, at -32 fpm, and the runway touchdown alignment was very good.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 20 °C and a wind blowing at 3 kt from a direction of 217 °, resulting in a slight headwind. The crosswind component was 2 kt, while the headwind component was also 2 kt. The total landing distance was 805 meters, which is 67% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, and the aircraft taxied to the parking area from the runway in less than 1 minute, covering a distance of less than 1 nm. The total flight distance was 6 nm, and the flight used -3 kg of fuel.
The PA28 Warrior II aircraft successfully landed at EHTE Teuge Airport, achieving a score of 99.5%. The final approach was conducted from the east, heading 291.0° at a distance of 3 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,045 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft landed on runway 26, which has a length of 1,193 meters.
The approach was characterized by a good threshold height, indicating that the aircraft was properly configured for landing. However, the threshold speed was slightly below the target speed of 61 knots, which may have been due to the aircraft's descent rate or the pilot's decision to flare earlier than expected. Despite this, the touchdown distance of 240 meters was considered good, and the touchdown speed of 51 knots was also within acceptable limits.
The touchdown rate of -32 feet per minute (fpm) was perfect, indicating that the aircraft touched down smoothly and without any excessive deceleration. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, suggesting that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway centerline at the moment of touchdown.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 20°C and a wind speed of 3 knots from 217°. The crosswind component was minimal at 2 knots, and the headwind component was also 2 knots, which helped to reduce the aircraft's ground speed and make the landing more stable.
The total landing distance of 805 meters was 67% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway centerline during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft touching down smoothly and coming to a stop within a short distance. The pilot's skills and experience were evident in the smooth and controlled manner in which the aircraft was landed.
