Improve the takeoff
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,276 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 313 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 26 at LOWI Innsbruck Airport, where the Van's RV-10 aircraft took off with a takeoff distance of 209 meters, which accounted for 11% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 65 knots. At the time of departure, the local weather conditions were characterized by a temperature of 18 degrees Celsius, a wind speed of 3 knots at 270 degrees, resulting in a headwind of 3 knots and no crosswind.
As the aircraft climbed out of Innsbruck, it began its enroute climb, which started overhead the airport. The climb took the aircraft from an altitude of 2,895 feet above sea level to 10,282 feet above sea level, an increase of 7,387 feet in just 4 minutes, covering a distance of 5 nautical miles. Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which lasted for 18 minutes and covered a distance of 40 nautical miles, starting overhead Inzing, Austria.
The enroute descent phase began 2 miles southeast of Andechs, Bavaria, Germany, where the aircraft descended from 10,463 feet above sea level to 2,454 feet above sea level, a decrease of 8,009 feet in 7 minutes, covering a distance of 11 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 22 at EDMO Oberpfaffenhofen Airport was made from the northeast, heading 224.0 degrees at 1 nautical mile and 526 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 22 was successful, with a touchdown distance of 312 meters, which was good, and a touchdown speed of 55 knots, also within acceptable limits. The touchdown rate was perfect at -45 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was very good. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 15 degrees Celsius, a wind speed of 5 knots at 270 degrees, resulting in a headwind of 3 knots and a crosswind of 4 knots.
Following the landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area from the runway, taking less than 1 minute and covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 58 nautical miles, which was completed in 31 minutes, and the aircraft used 18 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Van's RV-10 aircraft successfully landed at EDMO Oberpfaffenhofen Airport, achieving a high score of 94.4%. The final approach to runway 22 was conducted from the north east, with a heading of 224.0° at 1 nautical mile and 526 feet above ground level (agl). This approach was executed with precision, taking into account the airport's runway length of 2,276 meters.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down with a speed of 65 knots, which was slightly below the target threshold speed. However, this did not affect the overall performance of the landing, as the touchdown distance of 312 meters was considered good. The touchdown speed of 55 knots was also within acceptable limits, and the touchdown rate of -45 feet per minute (fpm) was perfect, indicating a smooth and controlled descent.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were favorable, with a temperature of 15°C and a wind speed of 5 knots at 270°. The crosswind component was 4 knots, while the headwind component was 3 knots. These conditions did not pose a significant challenge to the pilot, and the aircraft was able to maintain a stable approach and landing.
The total landing distance of 761 meters was 33% of the runway length, indicating a good utilization of the available runway space. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, demonstrating the pilot's ability to maintain control of the aircraft during the landing phase. Overall, the Van's RV-10 aircraft performed well during the landing at EDMO Oberpfaffenhofen Airport, achieving a high score and showcasing its capabilities as a reliable and efficient aircraft.
