Flight Score
Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with six checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 7,188 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 1,298 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with taxiing from the parking area to the runway, which took 11 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft then departed from runway 28 at KMIV Millville Municipal Airport, with a takeoff distance of 2,429 feet, which accounted for 41% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 150 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 63°F and a wind speed of 2 knots from a direction of 270°. There was no crosswind, but a headwind of 2 knots was present. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile west of KMIV Millville Municipal Airport, and climbed from an altitude of 1,215 feet above sea level to 14,883 feet above sea level, an increase of 13,668 feet, in just 5 minutes and covering a distance of 26 nautical miles.
Following the initial climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise, starting 1 mile west of Swedesboro, New Jersey, and lasted for 18 minutes, covering a distance of 126 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting 3 miles south of KTOD Towanda Airport, and descended from an altitude of 14,995 feet above sea level to 3,975 feet above sea level, a decrease of 11,020 feet, in 9 minutes and covering a distance of 47 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise, starting 1 mile east of 2NY9 Kayutah Lake/James, and lasted for 3 minutes, covering a distance of 14 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final descent, starting 3 miles southwest of Newfield Hamlet, New York, and descended from an altitude of 4,010 feet above sea level to 2,198 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,812 feet, in 3 minutes and covering a distance of 10 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 24 at KELM Elmira Corning Regional Airport was made from the northeast, with a heading of 230.0°, at an altitude of 4 nautical miles and 1,249 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 24, which had a length of 7,188 feet. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was slightly below the target at 111 knots.
The touchdown distance was good at 1,294 feet, and the touchdown speed was 104 knots, which was also good. However, the touchdown rate was fair at -280 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 25 feet from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 59°F and a wind speed of 2 knots from a direction of 270°, with a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 2 knots.
The total landing distance was 3,307 feet, which accounted for 46% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 25 feet from the centerline. The taxiing to the parking area from the runway took less than 1 minute and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 230 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 47 minutes, with a total fuel consumption of 6,355 pounds.
Aircraft C750 successfully landed at KELM Elmira Corning Regional Airport, achieving a score of 96.5%. The final approach was initiated from the north-east, heading 230.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,249 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft successfully touched down on runway 24, which has a length of 7,188 feet.
The threshold height was reported as good, indicating that the aircraft was at the correct height as it approached the runway. However, the threshold speed was slightly below the target speed of 111 knots, which may have been due to the aircraft's descent rate or the pilot's decision to flare earlier than expected. The touchdown distance of 1,294 feet was within acceptable limits, and the touchdown speed of 104 knots was also good.
The touchdown rate of -280 feet per minute (fpm) was fair, suggesting that the aircraft may have experienced a slight bounce or oscillation upon touchdown. This could be due to a variety of factors, including the aircraft's weight, the runway's surface, or the pilot's technique. The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 25 feet from the centreline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the aircraft's approach path or the pilot's decision to touch down slightly off-centre.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were characterized by a temperature of 59°F and a wind speed of 2 knots from 270°. The crosswind component was minimal at 1 knot, while the headwind component was 2 knots. The total landing distance of 3,307 feet was 46% of the runway length, which is within acceptable limits.
During the rollout, the aircraft's alignment was slightly misaligned by 25 feet from the centreline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the aircraft's direction or the pilot's decision to steer the aircraft off-centre. Overall, the landing was successful, but there were some minor deviations from the ideal approach and touchdown.
