Shorten the long landing
Ground effect becomes significant below about one wingspan of height. A Cessna 172, with a 36 ft span, enters ground effect at flare height - the float it feels in the hold-off is ground effect arriving on cue. An A320, with a span around 117 ft, has been in ground effect since before the threshold and there is no sudden cushion to feel, only a gradual reduction in induced drag that lengthens any float you allow.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,972 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,972 m of the 3,138 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 1,348 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight in the Airbus A320 was smooth and efficient, with a total distance of 269nm covered in 58 minutes. The departure from LFPG Charles de Gaulle International Airport involved a 9-minute taxi to the runway, followed by a takeoff from runway 27L. The takeoff distance was 1,124m, with a liftoff speed of 160 kn. The local weather at departure included a temperature of 14°C and wind of 18 kn at 250°, resulting in a crosswind of 5 kn and a headwind of 17 kn.
During the enroute climb, the aircraft ascended from 1,404 ft asl to 32,110 ft asl, covering 99 nm in 11 minutes. The enroute level cruise lasted 4 minutes, covering 71 nm, before beginning the descent from 32,254 ft asl to 2,696 ft asl over 14 minutes and 82 nm. The final approach to runway 14 at LSZH Zürich Airport involved a go-around at 9 ft agl before successfully landing on the same runway. The landing distance was 1,928 m, equivalent to 61% of the runway length. Taxiing back to the parking area took 3 minutes.
Overall, the flight operations were well-executed, with good performance in takeoff, climb, cruise, descent, approach, and landing. The aircraft used 2,872 kg of fuel during the flight, providing a comprehensive and efficient transportation experience for the passengers and crew on board.
Overall, your aircraft landing score of 89.7% is quite impressive, indicating a strong performance during the various phases of the landing process.
During the Approach Phase, it is commendable that you were able to maintain excellent glideslope alignment and achieve a good threshold speed of 134 knots. This indicates a high level of precision and control throughout the descent towards the runway.
Moving on to the Landing Phase, it is noteworthy that you had a good threshold height, ensuring a safe and controlled descent towards the runway. However, it is important to address the issue of a very poor landing flare. The landing flare is crucial in ensuring a smooth touchdown and minimizing any potential impact forces on the aircraft. Improving this aspect of your landing technique will contribute to an even more successful landing in the future.
In the Touchdown Phase, it is encouraging to see that your touchdown rate was smooth at -116 ft/min and that your touchdown speed of 114 knots was within a good range. Additionally, having a perfect runway touchdown alignment is a testament to your skill in maintaining control during this critical phase of the landing process.
One area for improvement is the fact that the touchdown point was 969 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone. This suggests that there may have been some challenges in accurately gauging the distance and timing of the touchdown. Taking steps to enhance your spatial awareness and judgment in this regard can help you achieve an even higher level of precision in future landings.
Overall, your performance in the various phases of the landing process showcases a strong foundation of skills and abilities. By continuing to focus on refining your technique, particularly in areas such as the landing flare and touchdown point accuracy, you have the potential to further enhance your overall landing proficiency and achieve even higher scores in the future. Keep up the good work and continue striving for excellence in every aspect of your aircraft operations.
