Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,675 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,675 m of the 3,641 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 346 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Airbus A380-800 taxied from the parking area to runway 34L at OTHH Hamad International Airport in 7 minutes, covering 1 nm.
During the departure roll on runway 34L the aircraft used a takeoff distance of 2,320 m, representing 54 % of the runway, and lifted off at 164 kt. Local weather was temperature 39 °C, wind 4 kt at 70 °, Crosswind: 4 kt Headwind: 0 kt.
Climb began about 1 nm north-west of OTHH, with the flight ascending from 908 ft ASL to 36,000 ft ASL, a gain of 35,091 ft achieved in 23 minutes while covering 142 nm.
Level cruise was established 9 nm north-west of OEDF King Fahd International Airport and continued for 169 minutes, during which the aircraft travelled 1,248 nm.
A second climb segment started 3 nm north of Acipayam, Turkey, raising the altitude from 36,869 ft ASL to 38,013 ft ASL, an increase of 1,144 ft completed in 2 minutes over a distance of 13 nm.
Subsequent level cruise commenced overhead Tavas, Turkey, lasting 179 minutes and covering 1,413 nm.
Descent commenced 1 nm north of Drucat, France, with the aircraft descending from 37,990 ft ASL to 1,395 ft ASL, a loss of 36,595 ft in 21 minutes while traversing 119 nm.
Final approach to runway 27L at EGLL London Heathrow Airport involved a descent from 1,363 ft AGL to 76 ft AGL in 101 seconds, and the aircraft was scored on the stabilisation gates.
The Airbus A380-800 landed on runway 27L, which is 3,641 m long; the threshold height was Good, and the threshold speed recorded was 141 kt. Touchdown occurred at 347 m down the runway with a speed of
The Airbus A380-800 executed a stabilised approach to runway 27L at EGLL London Heathrow, with the stabilisation assessment recorded as stabilised at the 1,000 ft gate. Gear, flaps, sink rate, glideslope, centreline and speed were all within limits, and the aircraft descended from 1,363 ft agl to 76 ft agl in 101 seconds.
At the threshold the aircraft presented a good threshold height and a threshold speed of 141 kt. The flare transitioned to touchdown with a speed of 140 kt, noted as a little fast, and the touchdown rate was firm at minus 350 fpm. Runway touchdown alignment was very good.
Touchdown occurred 347 m down the runway, with the touchdown speed of 140 kt and a firm rate of minus 350 fpm. The alignment at touchdown remained very good, and the local weather was 13 °C, wind 3 kt from 315°, with a 2 kt crosswind and a 2 kt headwind.
The rollout covered a total landing distance of 1,593 m, representing 44 % of the 3,641 m runway, and runway rollout alignment was very good.
With a score of 96.9 % the landing was strong overall; reducing the touchdown speed slightly and moderating the flare to lessen the firm rate would refine the performance further.
