MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,202 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 566 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 9 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a FFX P180, then departed from runway 07 at LGAL Alexandroupoli Democritus Airport. The takeoff distance was 596 meters, which accounted for 23% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 117 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 6 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 18 knots at a direction of 20 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 14 knots and a headwind of 11 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting overhead the airport and ascending to an altitude of 23,560 feet above sea level. This climb, which covered a distance of 48 nautical miles, took 13 minutes and resulted in an increase of 22,879 feet in altitude.
Following the initial climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which lasted for 45 minutes and covered a distance of 105 nautical miles. This cruise phase began 14 miles northeast of Atsiki, a location in the North Aegean region of Greece. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting 25 miles northeast of Zarakes, a location in Central Greece. This descent, which covered a distance of 61 nautical miles, took 13 minutes and resulted in a decrease of 19,525 feet in altitude.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which lasted for 11 minutes and covered a distance of 21 nautical miles. This cruise phase began 9 miles southeast of Legrena, a location in the Attica region of Greece. The aircraft then began its final descent, starting 1 mile southeast of Vouliagmeni, another location in the Attica region. This descent, which covered a distance of 5 nautical miles, took 3 minutes and resulted in a decrease of 1,332 feet in altitude.
The final approach to runway 03L at LGAV Athens Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport was made from the southwest, with a heading of 37.0 degrees at an altitude of 4 nautical miles and 1,267 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 03L, which had a length of 3,202 meters. The threshold height at 78 feet above ground level was well above the target, while the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 126 knots.
The touchdown point was 137 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 104 knots and a touchdown rate of -446 feet per minute, which was considered hard. The runway touchdown position was significantly misaligned by 19.0 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 6 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 8 knots at a direction of 0 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 5 knots and a headwind of 7 knots.
The total landing distance was 907 meters, which accounted for 28% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was misaligned by 21.6 meters from the centerline. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 5 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 248 nautical miles, which was covered in 68 minutes, and the aircraft used 416 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The aircraft, FFX P180 03 01, successfully landed on runway 03L at LGAV Athens Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport, scoring 75.9%. The final approach was initiated from the southwest, heading 37.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,267 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on the runway, which has a length of 3,202 meters.
The threshold height at 78 feet agl was above the target, indicating that the aircraft was slightly higher than desired when reaching the runway threshold. However, the threshold speed of 126 knots was only slightly above the target, suggesting that the pilot maintained a relatively smooth approach. The touchdown point was 137 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which may indicate a slight over-shooting of the desired landing spot.
The touchdown speed of 104 knots was within the acceptable range, indicating that the pilot managed to control the aircraft's descent and speed effectively. However, the touchdown rate of -446 feet per minute (fpm) was considered hard, suggesting that the aircraft may have experienced a relatively steep descent. This could be a concern for the aircraft's safety and the comfort of its occupants.
The runway touchdown position was significantly misaligned by 19.0 meters from the centerline, which may indicate that the pilot struggled to maintain a straight course during the final approach. This misalignment could also contribute to the hard touchdown rate. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 6°C and a wind speed of 8 knots at 0°, were relatively calm, with a crosswind of 5 knots and a headwind of 7 knots.
The total landing distance of 907 meters was 28% of the runway length, which is within the acceptable range. However, the runway rollout alignment was misaligned by 21.6 meters from the centerline, indicating that the pilot may have struggled to maintain a straight course during the rollout phase. Overall, while the landing was successful, there are areas for improvement, particularly in terms of maintaining a straight course and controlling the touchdown rate.
