Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,409 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 490 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft, a Just Flight RJ85 CityJet, taxiing from the parking area to the runway at RKSS Gimpo International Airport in Seoul, South Korea. This process took 5 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The aircraft then departed from runway 32R, with a takeoff distance of 956 meters, which was 27% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 139 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it encountered local weather conditions of a temperature of -1°C and a wind speed of 3 knots at 300°. The crosswind was 1 knot, and the headwind was 3 knots. After departing from RKSS Gimpo International Airport, the aircraft began its enroute climb, which started overhead the airport and took the aircraft to an altitude of 31,310 feet above sea level. This climb covered a distance of 136 nautical miles and took 25 minutes, with the aircraft increasing its altitude by 30,259 feet.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 10 miles northwest of RKJJ Gwangju Airport in Gwangju, South Korea. This phase lasted for 27 minutes and covered a distance of 275 nautical miles. After the level cruise, the aircraft began its enroute descent, which started at a latitude of 31.5190305 and a longitude of 123.5821877. The descent took the aircraft from an altitude of 31,780 feet above sea level to 1,293 feet above sea level, a decrease of 30,487 feet, in 24 minutes and covered a distance of 95 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 17R at ZSPD Shanghai Pudong International Airport was made from the north, with the aircraft heading 161.0° at an altitude of 1,274 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway. The landing was made on runway 17R, which had a length of 3,409 meters. The threshold height at 72 feet above ground level was well above the target, and the threshold speed was good at 110 knots.
The touchdown point was 113 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 99 knots, which was good. However, the touchdown rate was fair at -239 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, and the local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 8°C and a wind speed of 2 knots at 122°. The crosswind was 1 knot, and the headwind was 2 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,013 meters, which was 30% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good. After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, which took 5 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 514 nautical miles, and the flight took 88 minutes, using 3,827 kilograms of fuel.
The aircraft, a Just Flight RJ85 CityJet, successfully landed at ZSPD Shanghai Pudong International Airport on runway 17R. The final approach was initiated from the north, heading 161.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,274 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft demonstrated a high level of proficiency in its approach, with a score of 89.7%.
Upon reaching the runway, the aircraft touched down at a speed of 99 knots, which was well within the target range. The touchdown point was located 113 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, indicating a slight overrun. However, the touchdown speed was considered good, and the runway touchdown alignment was perfect, suggesting that the aircraft was well-controlled throughout the landing.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 8°C and a wind speed of 2 knots from a direction of 122°. The crosswind component was minimal at 1 knot, while the headwind component was 2 knots. These conditions did not appear to have a significant impact on the landing.
The total landing distance was 1,013 meters, which accounted for approximately 30% of the runway length. This is a relatively short landing distance, indicating that the aircraft was able to touch down and come to a stop in a relatively short period of time. The runway rollout alignment was also considered very good, suggesting that the aircraft was well-controlled during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was considered good, with the aircraft demonstrating a high level of proficiency in its approach and touchdown. However, the touchdown point was slightly beyond the designated zone, and the touchdown rate was fair at -239 feet per minute. Despite these minor issues, the landing was considered successful, and the aircraft was able to come to a stop in a relatively short distance.
