Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,816 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 591 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 25 at the Braga Municipal Aerodrome, also known as LPBR. The Cessna 208B aircraft accelerated down the runway, covering a distance of 453 meters, which was 48% of the runway's length. The liftoff speed was achieved at 74 knots, marking the start of the takeoff phase.
As the aircraft climbed away from the aerodrome, it encountered local weather conditions of 13 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 7 knots from a direction of 180 degrees. The crosswind component was 6 knots, while the headwind component was 3 knots. The aircraft continued to climb, passing overhead Merelim, a location in the Distrito de Braga, Portugal, before leveling off at an altitude of 13,881 feet above sea level.
The enroute level cruise phase began 6 miles northeast of Vila Real, a location in the Distrito de Vila Real, Portugal. During this phase, the aircraft maintained a steady altitude and covered a distance of 556 nautical miles over a period of 56 minutes. The aircraft then started its descent, passing 3 miles southwest of Bou Ismail, a location in the Wilaya de Tipaza, Algeria. The descent was steep, with the aircraft losing 11,769 feet in altitude over a period of 6 minutes, covering a distance of 11 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 24 at DAAB Blida Airport was initiated from the northeast, with the aircraft heading 246.0 degrees at a distance of 1 nautical mile and an altitude of 1,528 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 24, which had a length of 1,816 meters. The threshold height was significantly above the target, while the threshold speed was well above the target at 89 knots.
The touchdown point was 188 meters beyond the touchdown zone, indicating that the aircraft landed slightly beyond the intended point. The touchdown speed was 71 knots, which was faster than the target speed. The touchdown rate was firm at -368 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 4.2 meters.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 14 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 6 knots from a direction of 263 degrees. The crosswind component was 2 knots, while the headwind component was 6 knots. The total landing distance was 759 meters, which was 42% of the runway's length. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, indicating that the aircraft was well under control during the landing phase.
The total flight distance was 607 nautical miles, which was covered over a period of 82 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 726 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Cessna 208B aircraft successfully landed at DAAB Blida Airport, but the landing was not without some notable issues. The final approach was conducted from the north east, heading 246.0° at 1 nm and 1,528 ft above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on runway 24, which has a length of 1,816 m.
However, the threshold height at 97 ft agl was significantly above the target, indicating that the aircraft was higher than desired when reaching the runway threshold. Additionally, the threshold speed was well above the target at 89 kn, suggesting that the aircraft was traveling too fast when reaching the threshold. These issues may have contributed to the subsequent touchdown point being 188 m beyond the touchdown zone.
The touchdown speed of 71 kn was also faster than desired, resulting in a firm touchdown rate of -368 fpm. Furthermore, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.2 m from the centreline, which may have been due to the aircraft's speed and altitude at the threshold.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were relatively calm, with a temperature of 14 °C and a wind speed of 6 kn at 263°. The crosswind component was minimal at 2 kn, while the headwind component was 6 kn. These conditions were generally favorable for the landing.
Despite the issues with the touchdown, the runway rollout alignment was perfect, indicating that the pilot was able to maintain control of the aircraft during the rollout phase. The total landing distance was 759 m, which is 42% of the runway length. Overall, while the landing was not ideal, the pilot was able to bring the aircraft to a safe stop, and the rollout was executed smoothly.
