Flight Score
Speed on the slow side
Between four hundred and a thousand feet you're heavy, close to the ground and still carrying flap, and speed is the margin holding all three apart. Slow here doesn't feel like anything — the aeroplane climbs, the nose is up, nothing complains — right up until a turn, a gust or a bank tightens the wing's job and the margin is already gone. The fix is rarely "fly faster", it's lowering the nose a degree and letting the speed build before the next thing you do. Pitch buys altitude, speed buys options, and at this height options are the scarcer of the two.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 10,984 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 1,781 ft past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Boeing 737-800 taxied from the parking area to runway 26R at KLAS Harry Reid International Airport in 12 minutes, covering approximately 1 nm of taxiway.
During the departure roll on runway 26R, the aircraft used 5,182 ft of runway, representing 39 % of the available length, and lifted off at 149 kt. Ambient conditions were 84 °F with a wind of 2 kt from 073°, a 1 kt crosswind component and a 2 kt tailwind component.
Climb commenced 1 mile south-west of Paradise, Nevada, with the airplane accelerating from 3,120 ft asl to 35,002 ft asl, an altitude gain of 31,882 ft achieved in 15 minutes while traversing 92 nm.
Level cruise began 4 miles east of KIGM Kingman Airport, Arizona, and persisted for 20 minutes, during which the flight covered 143 nm at cruise altitude.
Descent was initiated 4 miles south-east of KDVT Phoenix Deer Valley Airport, Arizona, descending from 35,005 ft asl to 3,891 ft asl, a loss of 31,113 ft over 21 minutes and a distance of 111 nm.
The final approach to runway 11L at KTUS Tucson International Airport involved a descent from 1,360 ft agl to 123 ft agl in 94 seconds, and the aircraft was recorded as having scored on the stabilisation gates.
Landing on runway 11L, which is 10,984 ft long, occurred with a threshold speed of 147 kt, slightly above target. Touchdown was 424 ft beyond the touchdown zone at a speed of 141 kt, with a vertical speed of minus 151 fpm and perfect runway-centerline alignment. Local weather reported 76 °F, wind 2 kt from 090°, a 1 kt crosswind and a 1 kt headwind component.
The rollout distance measured 4,716 ft, representing 43 % of the runway, and runway-rollout alignment was noted as perfect.
After exiting the runway, the aircraft taxied to the parking area in 4 minutes, covering less than 1 nm of taxiway.
In total, the flight covered 355 nm, lasted 74 minutes, and consumed 6,493 lbs of fuel.
The Boeing 737-800 conducted the final approach to runway 11L at KTUS Tucson International Airport and was assessed as stabilised at the 1,000 ft gate, with gear, flaps, sink rate, glideslope, centreline and speed all within limits. The aircraft descended from 1,360 ft agl to 123 ft agl in 94 seconds, meeting the stabilisation gate criteria and contributing to the overall score of 99.6 %.
At threshold the height was reported as good and the threshold speed was slightly above target at 147 kt. The aircraft crossed the threshold and the touchdown point was 424 ft beyond the touchdown zone.
Touchdown occurred with a speed of 141 kt, described as a little fast, and a vertical rate of minus 151 fpm, which was judged good. Runway touchdown alignment was perfect.
The total landing distance was 4,716 ft, representing 43 % of the 10,984 ft runway, and rollout alignment was perfect.
Minor refinements should focus on reducing the threshold and touchdown speeds to their target values while maintaining the excellent alignment already demonstrated; the high score indicates the overall technique is sound.
