MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 2,114 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 2,114 m of the 3,138 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 484 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight started with the Embraer E190 taxiing from its parking spot to the runway, a duration of 9 minutes and a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft departed from runway 13L at Budapest's Liszt Ferenc International Airport, utilizing 35% of the runway, with a takeoff distance of 1,312 meters and a liftoff speed of 146 knots. The local weather conditions at departure were characterized by a temperature of 16°C, wind speed of 5 knots from a direction of 310°, with a resulting crosswind of 0 knots and a tailwind of 5 knots.
The enroute climb phase began approximately 1 mile north of Vecses, Pest megye, Hungary, with the aircraft ascending from a initial altitude of 1,490 ft ASL to 15,606 ft ASL, a gain of 14,115 ft over a period of 6 minutes and covering a distance of 20 nautical miles. The climb leveled off after passing overhead Rackresztur, Fejer megye, Hungary, lasting for 2 minutes and covering 9 nautical miles, at an altitude of 15,606 ft ASL. The aircraft then initiated a second climb phase, rising from 15,849 ft ASL to 31,396 ft ASL in 10 minutes and covering 57 nautical miles, before level cruising 5 miles south west of Szany, Gyor-Moson-Sopron megye, Hungary.
The enroute cruise level phase lasted for 44 minutes and covered a significant distance of 280 nautical miles, showcasing the effectiveness of the Embraer E190's cruise capabilities. In preparation for landing, the aircraft began its descent phase 1 mile north east of Kempten, Allgaeu, Bavaria, Germany, shedding altitude from 31,597 ft ASL to 2,638 ft ASL over the course of 21 minutes and covering 77 nautical miles.
Upon reaching the airport, the aircraft initiated a final approach to runway 14 at Zürich Airport from a northeasterly direction, heading 137.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,228 ft agl. The landing took place on the 3,138 meter runway, where the threshold height was deemed suitable. Notably, the aircraft's threshold speed at landing was significantly above the target speed, measuring 136 knots. The touch-down point occurred 73 meters beyond the touch-down zone, at a speed of 132 knots and a descent rate of -308 fpm, considered firm. Moreover, the runway touchdown alignment was found to be very good. The total landing distance covered 2,038 meters, representing 65% of the runway length.
Following the landing, the aircraft taxied to its parking spot over a duration of 10 minutes and a covering distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 451 nautical miles, taking a flight time of 104 minutes, and the aircraft utilized 3,012 kg of fuel throughout the journey.
The Embraer E190 landing at Zürich Airport (LSZH) was deemed successful, with a score of 96.6%. The aircraft was approaching runway 14 from the northwest, heading at 137.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,228 feet above ground level (agl).
Upon landing on the runway, several parameters were observed. The threshold speed, which refers to the speed at which the aircraft touches down on the runway, was well above the target speed at 136 knots (kt). This is a desirable trait as it reduces the likelihood of a hard landing. The touchdown point was located 73 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, indicating that the pilot may have been slightly hesitant in reducing power or adjusting the descent rate. Nevertheless, the touchdown speed at 132 kt was considered fast, resulting in a firm touchdown rate of -308 feet per minute (fpm).
In terms of alignment, the runway touchdown was very good, suggesting that the pilot maintained a consistent and controlled approach. Additionally, the runway rollout alignment was also deemed excellent, signifying that the aircraft remained stable and aligned with the runway after touchdown. The local weather conditions on the day of the landing, with a temperature of 15°C and winds of 5 kt from 28°, as well as the relatively small crosswind and tailwind components, likely contributed to a smooth and controlled landing.
Notably, the total landing distance was calculated to be 2,038 meters, which is equivalent to 65% of the runway length of 3,138 meters. While this is a relatively high distance, it is likely influenced by the firm touchdown rate and the fast touchdown speed. Overall, however, the landing was considered successful, with the pilot demonstrating good control and management of the aircraft throughout the approach and landing phases.
