Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,746 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 214 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 11 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-800, then departed from runway 07L at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. The takeoff distance was 1,544 meters, which accounted for 49% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 157 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of departure were a temperature of 25 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 6 knots at 100 degrees.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it began its enroute climb 1 mile east of the airport. The climb started from an altitude of 2,160 feet above sea level and continued to 26,286 feet above sea level, an increase of 24,126 feet in 20 minutes, covering a distance of 54 nautical miles. The enroute climb phase was followed by a level cruise phase, which started 11 miles northwest of Bowie, Arizona, and lasted for 62 minutes, covering a distance of 493 nautical miles.
The enroute descent phase began 7 miles northeast of the 73TS Fire Department Training Center Heliport in Dallas, Texas. The descent started from an altitude of 37,142 feet above sea level and continued to 1,805 feet above sea level, a decrease of 35,337 feet in 23 minutes, covering a distance of 136 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 18R at Austin Bergstrom International Airport was made from the north, heading 195.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,294 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 18R was successful, with a touchdown distance of 217 meters, which was good. However, the touchdown speed of 146 knots was fast, and the touchdown rate was very hard at -584 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, but the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 8.1 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 29 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 17 knots at 220 degrees.
The total landing distance was 1,109 meters, which accounted for 30% of the runway. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 5 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 691 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 121 minutes. The aircraft used 4,648 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-800 aircraft successfully landed at KAUS Austin Bergstrom International Airport, achieving a score of 93.4%. The final approach to runway 18R was initiated from the north, with a heading of 195.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,294 feet above ground level (agl).
The aircraft touched down on the runway, which has a length of 3,746 meters. The threshold height was satisfactory, and the threshold speed was significantly above the target speed, reaching 146 knots. The touchdown distance was also within acceptable limits, measuring 217 meters. However, the touchdown speed of 146 knots was slightly faster than expected, and the touchdown rate was quite hard, at -584 feet per minute (fpm).
Despite the slightly fast touchdown speed, the runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was well-aligned with the runway centerline at the moment of touchdown. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 29°C and winds of 17 knots from a direction of 220°. The crosswind component was 11 knots, while the headwind component was 13 knots.
The total landing distance, which includes the rollout phase, was 1,109 meters, accounting for approximately 30% of the runway length. Although the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 8.1 meters, this deviation was relatively minor and did not significantly impact the overall landing performance. Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft demonstrating good control and stability throughout the approach and touchdown phases.
