Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,792 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,792 m of the 3,010 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 676 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 12 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-700, then departed from runway 24R at Montreal / Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (CYUL). The takeoff distance was 1,600 meters, which accounted for 48% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 177 knots.
As the aircraft took to the skies, it encountered local weather conditions of 3°C temperature and a wind speed of 29 knots at 290 degrees. The crosswind was 27 knots, while the headwind was 11 knots. The enroute climb started overhead Dorval, Quebec, Canada, where the aircraft ascended from 1,136 feet above sea level to 36,354 feet above sea level, an increase of 35,218 feet in 24 minutes, covering a distance of 150 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise began 6 miles south of Redfield, New York, United States, and lasted for 303 minutes, covering a distance of 2,003 nautical miles. The aircraft then started its enroute descent 75 miles southwest of MMKS Campo El Patole Airport Empaque Tarriba, Estado de Sinaloa, Mexico. The descent from 38,694 feet above sea level to 1,634 feet above sea level, a decrease of 37,060 feet, took 21 minutes and covered a distance of 102 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 16 at MMSD Aeropuerto Internacional de Los Cabos was made from the north, heading 174.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,279 feet above ground level. The landing on runway 16 was successful, with a touchdown point 263 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 136 knots, which was a little fast, but the touchdown rate was good at -172 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was very good.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 27°C temperature and a wind speed of 10 knots at 149 degrees. The crosswind was 4 knots, while the headwind was 9 knots. The total landing distance was 1,714 meters, which accounted for 57% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 9.3 meters from the centerline. The taxiing to the parking from the runway took 10 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 2,265 nautical miles, taking a total of 369 minutes, and the aircraft used 13,940 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-700 aircraft successfully landed at MMSD Aeropuerto Internacional de Los Cabos, achieving a score of 94.7%. The final approach to runway 16 was initiated from the north, with a heading of 174.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,279 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft maintained a good threshold height, and the threshold speed of 135 knots was also satisfactory.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft landed 263 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which is slightly beyond the expected area. However, the touchdown speed of 136 knots was a bit faster than desired, indicating that the pilots may have needed to apply more braking to bring the aircraft to a stop. The touchdown rate of -172 feet per minute (fpm) was still within acceptable limits, suggesting that the pilots managed to control the descent effectively.
The runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating that the pilots maintained a stable and aligned approach to the runway. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 27°C and a wind speed of 10 knots from a direction of 149°. The crosswind component was relatively low at 4 knots, while the headwind component was 9 knots, which helped to reduce the landing distance.
The total landing distance of 1,714 meters was 57% of the available runway length, which is a reasonable distance considering the aircraft's weight and the wind conditions. However, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 9.3 meters from the centerline, indicating that the pilots may have needed to make some adjustments to maintain a straight path during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was successful, and the pilots demonstrated good control and management of the aircraft during the approach and touchdown phases. However, there is room for improvement in terms of touchdown speed and runway rollout alignment.
