Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 6,105 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 6,105 ft of the 7,500 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 2,579 ft past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 3 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Beechcraft Duke, then departed from runway 05 at KSFZ North Central State Airport. The takeoff distance was 1,397 feet, which accounted for 28% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 102 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 27°F and a wind speed of 10 knots at 9°. The crosswind component was 4 knots, while the headwind component was 10 knots. The aircraft took off and began its enroute climb, which started overhead KSFZ North Central State Airport in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. The climb phase involved an increase in altitude from 1,247 feet above sea level to 22,969 feet above sea level, a total increase of 21,722 feet, over a distance of 43 nautical miles, and took 14 minutes to complete.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 3 miles southeast of Salem, Connecticut. This phase lasted for 83 minutes and covered a distance of 370 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, which started 5 miles southwest of VA14 Southampton Correctional Center Airport in Capron, Virginia. The descent phase involved a decrease in altitude from 24,145 feet above sea level to 11,767 feet above sea level, a total decrease of 12,378 feet, over a distance of 56 nautical miles, and took 11 minutes to complete.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started 1 mile west of 79NC Ball Airport in Louisburg, North Carolina. This phase lasted for 2 minutes and covered a distance of 8 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final descent, which started 1 mile northeast of Youngsville, North Carolina. The descent phase involved a decrease in altitude from 11,773 feet above sea level to 477 feet above sea level, a total decrease of 11,296 feet, over a distance of 20 nautical miles, and took 6 minutes to complete.
The final approach to runway 05R at KRDU Raleigh Durham International Airport was made from the southwest, with a heading of 45.0° at 0 nautical miles and 80 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 05R, which had a length of 7,500 feet. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 101 knots. The touchdown point was 1,165 feet beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 82 knots and a touchdown rate of -35 feet per minute, which was perfect. The runway touchdown alignment was also perfect.
The total landing distance was 5,791 feet, which accounted for 77% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 1 minute and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 500 nautical miles, and the flight took 121 minutes to complete, using 1,008 pounds of fuel.
The Beechcraft Duke aircraft successfully landed at KRDU Raleigh Durham International Airport, achieving a score of 93.8%. The final approach to runway 05R was initiated from the southwest, heading 45.0° at 0 nm and 80 ft above ground level (agl). This approach was executed with precision, as the aircraft landed on the designated runway, which has a length of 7,500 ft.
The threshold height was satisfactory, and the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 101 kn. This indicates that the pilot maintained a safe margin above the recommended speed, ensuring a stable approach. The touchdown point was 1,165 ft beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively safe distance considering the runway length.
The touchdown speed of 82 kn was within the acceptable range, and the touchdown rate of -35 fpm was perfect, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. The runway touchdown alignment was also perfect, demonstrating the pilot's skill and attention to detail.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 48 °F and wind speeds of 8 kn at 80°. The crosswind component was 4 kn, while the headwind component was 6 kn, which is relatively minimal. These conditions did not pose a significant challenge to the pilot, allowing for a smooth and controlled landing.
The total landing distance of 5,791 ft was 77% of the runway length, which is a respectable achievement. The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase, ensuring a safe and stable taxiing process. Overall, the Beechcraft Duke aircraft performed well during the landing, demonstrating the pilot's expertise and the aircraft's capabilities.
