MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 5,610 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,610 ft of the 7,184 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 3,452 ft past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 16 minutes and covered a distance of 4 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-800, then departed from runway 22L at KORD Chicago O'Hare International Airport. The takeoff distance was 3,951 feet, which accounted for 49% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 145 knots.
As the aircraft climbed to a higher altitude, it encountered local weather conditions of 19°F temperature and a 7-knot wind at 295°. The crosswind was 7 knots, while the headwind was 2 knots. The enroute climb started 1 mile east of Bensenville, Illinois, and the aircraft climbed from 1,672 feet above sea level to 6,161 feet, an increase of 4,489 feet in 3 minutes, covering a distance of 7 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began its descent from 6,126 feet above sea level to 5,660 feet, a decrease of 466 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 8 nautical miles. This was followed by another enroute climb from 6,154 feet above sea level to 37,106 feet, an increase of 30,952 feet in 16 minutes, covering a distance of 113 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered a level cruise, starting 1 mile north-west of Jimmerson Lake Lake James in Indiana, and lasted for 12 minutes, covering a distance of 252 nautical miles. However, the aircraft then began its descent from 37,043 feet above sea level to 6,268 feet, a decrease of 30,775 feet in 21 minutes, covering a distance of 144 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise, starting overhead Fairfax in Virginia, and lasted for 5 minutes, covering a distance of 17 nautical miles. However, the aircraft then began its descent from 5,866 feet above sea level to 1,348 feet, a decrease of 4,518 feet in 8 minutes, covering a distance of 13 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 01 at KDCA Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport was made from the south, heading 355.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,327 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 01, which had a length of 7,184 feet. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was well above the target at 144 knots.
The touchdown point was 2,050 feet beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 118 knots and a touchdown rate of -174 feet per minute, which was good. The runway touchdown alignment was very good. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 32°F temperature and a 11-knot wind at 317°, with a crosswind of 7 knots and a headwind of 9 knots.
The total landing distance was 5,308 feet, which accounted for 74% of the runway. However, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 25 feet from the centreline. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 3 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 564 nautical miles, taking 83 minutes, and the aircraft used 8,790 pounds of fuel.
The Boeing 737-800 aircraft successfully landed at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (KDCA) on runway 01, achieving an impressive score of 87.8%. The final approach was conducted from the south, heading 355.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,327 feet above ground level (agl).
The aircraft touched down on the runway, with a threshold speed that was well above the target at 144 knots. This indicates a high level of control and precision during the landing phase. The touchdown point was located 2,050 feet beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively long distance but still within acceptable limits. The touchdown speed of 118 knots was good, and the touchdown rate of -174 feet per minute (fpm) was also satisfactory.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 32°F and winds of 11 knots from 317°. This resulted in a crosswind of 7 knots and a headwind of 9 knots, which the pilots effectively managed during the landing. The total landing distance of 5,308 feet was 74% of the runway length, indicating a relatively long landing roll but still within the acceptable range.
One area for improvement was noted during the rollout phase, where the aircraft's alignment was slightly misaligned by 25 feet from the centreline. However, this was a minor deviation and did not significantly impact the overall performance of the landing. Overall, the Boeing 737-800 aircraft demonstrated a high level of proficiency and control during the landing at KDCA, achieving a commendable score of 87.8%.
