Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,986 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 815 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft taxiing from the parking to the runway, a process that took 4 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The Airbus A321 then took off from runway 31L at UGGG Lochini, with a takeoff distance of 1,873 meters, which was 65% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 159 knots, and the aircraft climbed to a height of 34,602 feet above sea level.
During the enroute climb, the aircraft started 1 mile north west of UGTB Tbilisi International Airport and climbed from 2,649 feet to 34,602 feet in 23 minutes, covering a distance of 136 nautical miles. The climb was a significant increase of 31,953 feet. Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise, which started 1 mile east of Ochkhamuri and lasted for 72 minutes, covering a distance of 483 nautical miles.
The enroute descent started 20 miles north west of Eregli, where the aircraft descended from 35,047 feet to 9,974 feet in 11 minutes, covering a distance of 68 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered another level cruise, which started 7 miles south of Sile and lasted for 13 minutes, covering a distance of 45 nautical miles. The descent started 3 miles north west of LTGE Gemlik Airfield, where the aircraft descended from 9,814 feet to 3,861 feet in 6 minutes, covering a distance of 23 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise, which started 19 miles south of Beylikduezue and lasted for 4 minutes, covering a distance of 18 nautical miles. The descent started 7 miles south west of Adalar, where the aircraft descended from 3,858 feet to 1,797 feet in 3 minutes, covering a distance of 11 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 06L at LTFJ Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport was from the south west, with a heading of 64.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,482 feet above ground level. The landing was successful, with a touchdown point 397 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 130 knots, which was good, but the touchdown rate was fair at -206 feet per minute.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 8 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 14 knots at 20 degrees. The crosswind was 10 knots, and the headwind was also 10 knots. The total landing distance was 1,312 meters, which was 44% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 12.5 meters from the centreline.
The taxiing from the runway to the parking took 3 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 793 nautical miles, which was covered in 143 minutes, and the aircraft used 6,601 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A321 aircraft successfully landed at LTFJ Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport, with a score of 86.6%. The final approach to runway 06L was initiated from the southwest, heading 64.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,482 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft's approach was executed in accordance with standard procedures, with a threshold height above the target at 62 feet agl, but the threshold speed was satisfactory at 140 knots.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft landed 397 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 130 knots, which was considered good. However, the touchdown rate of -206 feet per minute (fpm) was only fair. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 4.4 meters, indicating a minor deviation from the ideal landing position.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 8°C and a wind speed of 14 knots from a direction of 20°. The crosswind component was 10 knots, while the headwind component was also 10 knots. These conditions did not appear to significantly impact the aircraft's landing performance.
The total landing distance of 1,312 meters was 44% of the available runway length of 2,986 meters. This indicates that the aircraft had sufficient runway remaining for a safe stop. However, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 12.5 meters, suggesting that the aircraft's brakes may have been applied unevenly or that the pilot may have experienced some difficulty in maintaining a straight course during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was considered satisfactory, with a score of 86.6%. While there were some minor deviations from the ideal landing performance, the aircraft was able to safely touch down and come to a stop within the available runway length.
