Shorten the long landing
Ground effect becomes significant below about one wingspan of height. A Cessna 172, with a 36 ft span, enters ground effect at flare height - the float it feels in the hold-off is ground effect arriving on cue. An A320, with a span around 117 ft, has been in ground effect since before the threshold and there is no sudden cushion to feel, only a gradual reduction in induced drag that lengthens any float you allow.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,755 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,755 m of the 3,005 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 1,010 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Overall, this aircraft landing had a mixture of strengths and weaknesses in each phase.
During the Approach Phase, the descent path was below the glideslope limit, indicating that the aircraft was coming in too low to the runway. However, the heading alignment and speed were on target, which is positive.
Moving on to the Landing Phase, the threshold height was slightly too low, suggesting that the aircraft was descending too early. Additionally, there was a very poor landing flare, which can lead to a hard landing and potentially damaging the landing gear or other components of the aircraft.
In the Touchdown Phase, the touchdown rate was good and the speed was on target, indicating a smooth touchdown. However, the touchdown point was 587 m beyond the touchdown zone, which is quite far and may have required extra braking to bring the aircraft to a stop. The runway touchdown position being 6.2 m from the centerline is also not ideal, as it indicates the aircraft was not aligned perfectly with the runway.
Finally, in the Rollout Phase, the runway alignment was 26.7 m from the centerline, further indicating that the aircraft had some difficulty in maintaining a straight path down the runway.
Overall, this aircraft landing had some areas that need improvement, particularly in terms of descent path, flare technique, and runway alignment. These are all important factors in ensuring a safe and successful landing.
