Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,999 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 373 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Airbus A320 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Trondheim Airport, Værnes, taking approximately 5 minutes and covering a distance of 1 nautical mile. The departure roll took place on runway 27, with the aircraft lifting off at a speed of 155 knots. The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 16 °C, with a wind speed of 2 knots from a direction of 290 °, resulting in a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 2 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it began its enroute climb, starting approximately 1 mile northwest of Hell in the Trondelag region of Norway. The climb took place from an altitude of 1,035 feet above sea level to a maximum altitude of 37,074 feet, an increase of 36,038 feet, in 18 minutes and covering a distance of 115 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise phase began 13 miles northeast of Terrak in the Nordland Fylke region, lasting 22 minutes and covering a distance of 167 nautical miles.
The enroute descent phase started 23 miles north of Straumen in the Nordland Fylke region, with the aircraft descending from an altitude of 37,170 feet to 1,716 feet, a decrease of 35,454 feet, in 30 minutes and covering a distance of 140 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 18 at Tromsø Airport, Langnes, was made from the north, with the aircraft heading 193.0 ° at an altitude of 1,678 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway.
The landing took place on runway 18, which had a length of 1,999 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was well above the target speed at 139 knots. The touchdown distance was good at 373 meters, but the touchdown speed was a little fast at 131 knots, resulting in a hard touchdown rate of -492 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, and the runway rollout alignment was very good.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 1 °C, with a wind speed of 3 knots from a direction of 250 °, resulting in a crosswind of 3 knots and a headwind of 2 knots. The total landing distance was 1,221 meters, which was 61% of the runway length. The taxiing to the parking area from the runway took approximately 1 minute and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 429 nautical miles, taking a total of 77 minutes, and the aircraft used 2,762 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at ENTC Tromsø Airport, Langnes, with a score of 96.8%. The aircraft approached the runway from the north, heading 193.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,678 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was executed with precision, and the aircraft landed safely on runway 18, which has a length of 1,999 meters.
The threshold height was good, indicating that the aircraft was at the correct altitude as it approached the runway. However, the threshold speed was above the target speed of 139 knots, which may have been due to the aircraft's descent rate or the pilot's decision to maintain a higher speed for a smoother landing. The touchdown distance of 373 meters was within the acceptable range, demonstrating the pilot's skill in controlling the aircraft's descent.
Despite the good touchdown distance, the touchdown speed of 131 knots was slightly faster than desired, which may have contributed to the hard touchdown rate of -492 feet per minute (fpm). A harder touchdown rate can put additional stress on the aircraft's landing gear and may affect the overall safety of the landing. Nevertheless, the runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating that the aircraft was aligned with the runway centerline at the moment of touchdown.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were relatively calm, with a temperature of 1°C and a wind speed of 3 knots from 250°. The crosswind component was 3 knots, while the headwind component was 2 knots. These conditions were favorable for the landing, and the pilot was able to maintain control of the aircraft throughout the approach and landing phases.
The total landing distance of 1,221 meters was 61% of the runway length, which is within the acceptable range. The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was aligned with the runway centerline during the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was successful, and the pilot demonstrated good skills and judgment in executing the approach and landing.
