MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 2,267 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 2,267 m of the 4,265 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 664 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 5 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-800, then departed from runway 08 at PAJN Juneau International Airport. The takeoff distance was 1,727 meters, which was 67% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 158 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it encountered local weather conditions with a temperature of 23°C and a wind speed of 3 knots at 225°. The crosswind was 2 knots, and the tailwind was 1 knot. After departing from the airport, the enroute climb started 1 mile east of PAJN Juneau International Airport, where the aircraft climbed from 1,032 feet above sea level to 35,003 feet above sea level, an increase of 33,971 feet in 21 minutes, covering 129 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 38 miles east of 2Z1 Entrance Island Seaplane Base Entrance Island and lasted 83 minutes, covering 652 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent 6 miles west of CYLE Lake Louise Airport Lake Louise, where it descended from 35,002 feet above sea level to 4,852 feet above sea level, a decrease of 30,150 feet in 22 minutes, covering 121 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 35R at CYYC Calgary International Airport was from the south, with a heading of 0.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,285 feet above ground level. The landing on runway 35R was successful, with a touchdown point 247 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was a little fast at 135 knots, but the touchdown rate was fair at -213 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 5.4 meters from the centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 13°C and a wind speed of 3 knots at 225°, with a crosswind of 2 knots and a tailwind of 2 knots. The total landing distance was 2,185 meters, which was 51% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 3 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 910 nautical miles, taking 137 minutes, and the aircraft used 6,129 kilograms of fuel.
The Boeing 737-800 aircraft successfully landed at Calgary International Airport, with a score of 88.3%. The final approach to runway 35R was initiated from the south, with the aircraft heading 0.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,285 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft's approach to the runway was well-executed, with a threshold speed of 143 knots, which was within the target range.
However, there were a few areas where the landing could be improved. The threshold height at 75 feet agl was well above the target, indicating that the aircraft may have been slightly high on its approach. Additionally, the touchdown speed of 135 knots was a little fast, which could have resulted in a longer landing distance. The touchdown rate of -213 feet per minute was fair, but could be improved upon.
The touchdown point was 247 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is a significant deviation from the target. This could be due to a combination of factors, including the aircraft's speed and alignment on approach. The runway touchdown position was also slightly misaligned by 5.4 meters from the centerline, which could have contributed to the deviation from the touchdown zone.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were relatively calm, with a temperature of 13°C and winds of 3 knots at 225°. The crosswind and tailwind components were both 2 knots, which is relatively minimal. Despite the favorable weather conditions, the aircraft's landing performance could be improved upon.
The total landing distance of 2,185 meters was 51% of the runway length, which is a relatively long landing distance. However, the runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was able to maintain its alignment and direction after touchdown. Overall, while there were some areas where the landing could be improved, the Boeing 737-800 aircraft was able to successfully land at Calgary International Airport with a score of 88.3%.
