Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,611 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 356 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 5 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-800, then departed from runway 22 at KHOU William P Hobby Airport in Houston, Texas. The takeoff distance was 1,583 meters, which accounted for 68% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 162 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 26 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 4 knots at 160 degrees. The crosswind component was 4 knots, while the headwind component was 2 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile southwest of KHOU William P Hobby Airport and ascending from 1,065 feet above sea level to 34,906 feet above sea level, an increase of 33,842 feet in 14 minutes and covering a distance of 144 nautical miles.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 4 miles northwest of F17 Center Mun Center in Texas and lasted for 20 minutes. During this period, the aircraft covered a distance of 512 nautical miles. The enroute descent phase began 1 mile south of 8LL9 Fry Rla Pawnee in Illinois, where the aircraft descended from 34,869 feet above sea level to 5,970 feet above sea level, a decrease of 28,899 feet in 12 minutes and covering a distance of 134 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started 2 miles southwest of Crest Hill in Illinois and lasted for 2 minutes, covering a distance of 6 nautical miles. The enroute descent phase began 2 miles west of Homer Glen in Illinois, where the aircraft descended from 5,467 feet above sea level to 1,892 feet above sea level, a decrease of 3,575 feet in 3 minutes and covering a distance of 12 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 04R at KMDW Chicago Midway International Airport was made from the southwest, heading 44.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,272 feet above ground level. The landing on runway 04R was successful, with a runway length of 1,611 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also good at 148 knots. The touchdown distance was good at 353 meters, but the touchdown speed of 139 knots was a little fast. The touchdown rate was fair at -291 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.9 meters from the centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 11 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 3 knots at 40 degrees. The crosswind component was 0 knots, while the headwind component was 3 knots. The total landing distance was 953 meters, which accounted for 59% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good.
The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 1 minute and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 815 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 58 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 5,284 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-800 aircraft successfully landed at Chicago Midway International Airport (KMDW) on runway 04R. The final approach was initiated from the southwest, heading 44.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,272 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft demonstrated a high level of proficiency in its approach, achieving a score of 98.2%.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on the runway with a speed of 139 kt, which was slightly above the recommended threshold speed of 148 kt. However, the touchdown distance of 353 meters was within acceptable limits. The touchdown rate of -291 feet per minute (fpm) was considered fair, indicating a moderate rate of descent.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 4.9 meters, which may require some adjustments in the aircraft's approach path. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 11°C and a gentle headwind of 3 kt from a direction of 40°. The crosswind component was negligible, with a speed of 0 kt.
The total landing distance of 953 meters was 59% of the available runway length, indicating a relatively short landing roll. The runway rollout alignment was very good, suggesting that the aircraft's brakes were applied smoothly and effectively to bring the aircraft to a stop.
Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft demonstrating good control and precision throughout the approach and landing phases. However, there is room for improvement in terms of touchdown speed and touchdown rate.
