Work on the flare
See Arrival Landing
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,872 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 400 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 5 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, an Airbus A321, then departed from runway 19 at EYVI Vilnius International Airport. The takeoff distance was 1,218 meters, which accounted for 49% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 159 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of departure were a temperature of -9 °C, with a wind speed of 14 knots at 149°.
As the aircraft climbed out of EYVI Vilnius International Airport, it began its enroute climb 1 mile south of the airport. The climb took 21 minutes and covered a distance of 120 nautical miles, during which the aircraft ascended from 1,684 feet above sea level to 36,008 feet above sea level, an increase of 34,324 feet. The enroute level cruise started 3 miles east of Radzilow, Poland, and lasted for 14 minutes, covering a distance of 108 nautical miles.
The enroute descent began 2 miles northeast of Jasieniec, Poland, and took 22 minutes to complete, during which the aircraft descended from 36,033 feet above sea level to 2,415 feet above sea level, a decrease of 33,618 feet. The descent covered a distance of 107 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 26 at EPKT Katowice Wojciech Korfanty International Airport was made from the east, with a heading of 270.0°, at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,421 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 26 was successful, with a touchdown distance of 401 meters, which was good. However, the touchdown speed of 131 knots was slightly above the target speed, and the touchdown rate was firm at -308 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, and the runway rollout alignment was also perfect. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 1 °C, with a wind speed of 11 knots at 230°.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking from the runway, which took 4 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 342 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 68 minutes. The aircraft used 2,986 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A321 successfully landed at EPKT Katowice Wojciech Korfanty International Airport, demonstrating a high level of precision and control. The aircraft approached the runway from the east, heading 270.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,421 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was executed with a high degree of accuracy, resulting in a good threshold height and a perfect runway touchdown alignment.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's speed was slightly above the target threshold speed, registering at 136 knots. However, the touchdown distance of 401 meters was within acceptable limits, indicating a well-executed landing. The touchdown speed of 131 knots was a little fast, but the firm touchdown rate of -308 feet per minute (fpm) suggests that the aircraft's descent was controlled and stable.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were characterized by a temperature of 1°C and a wind speed of 11 knots from 230°. The crosswind component was 7 knots, while the headwind component was 9 knots. Despite these conditions, the aircraft's landing performance was not significantly affected, with a total landing distance of 1,332 meters, which is approximately 46% of the runway length.
The runway rollout alignment was also perfect, indicating that the aircraft's brakes were applied smoothly and effectively, allowing the aircraft to come to a stop without any deviation from the centerline. Overall, the landing was executed with a high degree of precision and control, resulting in a score of 99.1%.
