MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 5,817 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,817 ft of the 11,054 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 1,519 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with taxiing from the parking area to the runway, which took 6 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Cessna 208B, then departed from runway 25R at Los Angeles International Airport (KLAX). The takeoff distance was 898 feet, which accounted for 8% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 68 knots, and the local weather conditions were characterized by a temperature of 64°F and a wind speed of 3 knots at 310°.
As the aircraft climbed away from KLAX, it reached an altitude of 4,276 feet above sea level (asl) after ascending 3,474 feet in 7 minutes and covering a distance of 18 nautical miles. The enroute climb started overhead KLAX, and the aircraft then entered a level cruise phase, lasting 17 minutes and covering 25 nautical miles, 1 mile south-west of Northridge, California.
The aircraft then began its descent from 4,051 feet asl to 2,723 feet asl, a decrease of 1,328 feet in 2 minutes and covering 3 nautical miles, 1 mile west of Camarillo Airport (KCAI). The descent phase was followed by a brief level cruise phase, lasting 2 minutes and covering less than 1 nautical mile, 1 mile north-east of Point Mugu Naval Air Station (KNTD).
The aircraft then climbed from 2,959 feet asl to 5,300 feet asl, an increase of 2,340 feet in 6 minutes and covering 6 nautical miles, overhead KNTD. The climb phase was followed by another level cruise phase, lasting 2 minutes and covering 3 nautical miles, overhead Camarillo.
The aircraft then began its descent from 4,997 feet asl to 2,447 feet asl, a decrease of 2,550 feet in 5 minutes and covering 1 nautical mile, 3 miles north-east of Camarillo. The descent phase was followed by another level cruise phase, lasting 2 minutes and covering 3 nautical miles, 4 miles south-west of Moorpark.
The aircraft then began its final descent from 2,408 feet asl to 1,573 feet asl, a decrease of 836 feet in 2 minutes and covering 4 nautical miles, 1 mile east of Camarillo. The final approach to runway 21 at KNTD was made from the north-east, with a heading of 224.0° and an altitude of 1,551 feet above ground level (agl).
The landing on runway 21 at KNTD was successful, with a touchdown distance of 1,509 feet and a touchdown speed of 63 knots. However, the touchdown rate was fair at -271 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 37 feet from the centreline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 55°F and a wind speed of 4 knots at 60°.
The total landing distance was 5,518 feet, which accounted for 50% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 37 feet from the centreline. The aircraft then taxied to the parking area, which took 3 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 70 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 57 minutes. The aircraft used 312 pounds of fuel during the flight.
The Cessna 208B aircraft successfully landed at KNTD Point Mugu Naval Air Station (Naval Base Ventura Co) on runway 21, achieving a score of 79.6%. The final approach was initiated from the north-east, heading 224.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,551 feet above ground level (agl).
Upon landing, the aircraft demonstrated a good threshold speed of 65 knots, which is within the expected range. However, the threshold height at 85 feet agl was significantly above the target, indicating a slight deviation in the aircraft's descent. The touchdown distance of 1,509 feet was also within the acceptable range, and the touchdown speed of 63 knots was good.
Despite the satisfactory touchdown speed, the touchdown rate of -271 feet per minute (fpm) was only fair, suggesting that the aircraft could have been brought down more smoothly. Furthermore, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 37 feet from the centreline, which may have contributed to the slightly misaligned runway rollout alignment.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 55°F and a wind speed of 4 knots at 60°. The crosswind was minimal at 1 kt, while the tailwind was 4 kt, which may have affected the aircraft's alignment during the landing roll.
The total landing distance of 5,518 feet was 50% of the runway length, indicating that the aircraft was able to stop within a reasonable distance. However, the slightly misaligned runway rollout alignment and the fair touchdown rate suggest that there is room for improvement in the aircraft's landing technique. Overall, the landing was satisfactory, but there are areas for refinement to achieve a higher score.
