Flight Score
Smooth the climb
Pull to 15 degrees at one rate and you get a clean liftoff, pull to the same 15 degrees at twice the rate and you get an overshoot, a push, and an oscillation through the first few hundred feet. The type-general rule of thumb is a rotation rate of about 2 to 3 degrees per second, which means roughly five to seven seconds from starting the pull to reaching the initial climb attitude of around 15 degrees nose-up. Count it out loud during your next takeoff and you will almost certainly discover you have been rotating in two seconds flat.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,432 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 322 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Airbus A320 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Calgary International Airport, taking approximately 8 minutes and covering a distance of 2 nautical miles. The departure roll took place on runway 35R, with the aircraft lifting off at a speed of 146 knots. The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 21 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 8 knots from a direction of 19 degrees.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it began its enroute climb, which started approximately 1 mile northeast of the airport. The climb took place from an initial altitude of 4,569 feet above sea level to a maximum altitude of 37,469 feet, an increase of 32,900 feet in just 16 minutes. During this phase, the aircraft covered a distance of 123 nautical miles.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which began approximately 11 miles northeast of the Bow Island Airport. This phase lasted for 23 minutes and covered a distance of 664 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, which started approximately 3 miles west of Henning, Minnesota. The descent took place from an altitude of 38,048 feet to a final altitude of 2,125 feet, a decrease of 35,923 feet in just 20 minutes. During this phase, the aircraft covered a distance of 126 nautical miles.
As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its final approach to runway 12L at Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport. The approach was made from the northwest, with the aircraft heading 121.0 degrees at an altitude of 1,283 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway threshold.
The landing took place on runway 12L, which had a length of 2,432 meters. The threshold height was good, but the touchdown speed was slightly above the target speed of 139 knots, at 135 knots. The touchdown distance was good, at 320 meters, but the touchdown rate was fair, at -243 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline, by 6.9 meters.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 31 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 12 knots from a direction of 140 degrees. The crosswind component was 4 knots, while the headwind component was 12 knots.
Following the landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, taking approximately 2 minutes and covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 922 nautical miles, taking a total of 71 minutes, and the aircraft used a total of 5,151 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at KMSP Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport, achieving a score of 96.7%. The aircraft approached the runway from the northwest, heading 121.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,283 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was executed with good control, and the aircraft landed on runway 12L, which has a length of 2,432 meters.
The threshold height was satisfactory, but the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 139 knots. This may indicate a slight delay in the aircraft's descent or a slight increase in airspeed during the final approach. The touchdown distance was good at 320 meters, indicating that the aircraft was able to maintain a stable approach and touchdown.
However, the touchdown speed was a little fast at 135 knots, which may have resulted in a slightly higher touchdown rate. The touchdown rate was fair at -243 feet per minute (fpm), which is within the acceptable range. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 6.9 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the aircraft's approach path.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 31°C and a wind speed of 12 knots at 140°. The crosswind component was minimal at 4 knots, while the headwind component was 12 knots. These conditions were favorable for the landing, and the aircraft was able to maintain a stable approach and touchdown.
The total landing distance was 1,318 meters, which is 54% of the runway length. This indicates that the aircraft was able to maintain a stable rollout and come to a stop within a reasonable distance. The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was able to maintain a stable and controlled rollout after touchdown.
Overall, the landing was successful, and the aircraft was able to maintain a stable approach and touchdown despite a slightly fast touchdown speed and a slight deviation in the runway touchdown position.
