MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,652 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 504 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 11 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-700, then departed from runway 35R at Calgary International Airport (CYYC) in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The takeoff distance was 1,292 meters, which was 30% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 142 knots.
As the aircraft climbed, it started to ascend from an altitude of 4,612 feet above sea level to 38,989 feet above sea level, an increase of 34,378 feet in 11 minutes, covering a distance of 136 nautical miles. The enroute climb began 1 mile northeast of CYYC. The local weather conditions at the time of takeoff were a temperature of 2 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 7 knots at 340 degrees, resulting in a 2-knot crosswind and a 7-knot headwind.
After reaching the cruising altitude, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 12 miles east of Jaques Farms Airport (CJF4) in Buffalo, Alberta, Canada. This phase lasted for 13 minutes and covered a distance of 367 nautical miles.
As the aircraft began its descent, it started from an altitude of 39,005 feet above sea level and descended to 2,033 feet above sea level, a decrease of 36,972 feet in 17 minutes, covering a distance of 140 nautical miles. The enroute descent started 11 miles northeast of Virden / RJ (Bob) Andrew Field Regional Aerodrome (CYVD) in Virden, Manitoba, Canada.
The final approach to runway 31 at Winnipeg / James Armstrong Richardson International Airport (CYWG) was made from the southeast, heading 319.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,245 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 31, which had a length of 2,652 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 138 knots.
The touchdown point was 85 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 128 knots, which was a little fast. However, the touchdown rate was good at -186 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.6 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of -26 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 6 knots at 270 degrees, resulting in a 5-knot crosswind and a 4-knot headwind.
The total landing distance was 1,377 meters, which was 52% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 3 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 653 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 52 minutes. The aircraft used 3,492 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-700 aircraft successfully landed at Winnipeg / James Armstrong Richardson International Airport (CYWG) on runway 31. The final approach was conducted from the southeast, aligning with the heading of 319.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,245 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft achieved a score of 98.4% for this landing, indicating a high level of proficiency.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down 85 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which is slightly outside the expected area. The touchdown speed of 128 knots was slightly above the target speed, indicating that the pilot may have been able to maintain a more controlled descent. The touchdown rate of -186 feet per minute (fpm) was within the acceptable range, demonstrating a smooth and controlled landing.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.6 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the aircraft's alignment during the final approach. However, the runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the pilot was able to maintain control of the aircraft during the rollout phase.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were characterized by a temperature of -26°C and a wind speed of 6 knots from 270°. The crosswind component was 5 knots, while the headwind component was 4 knots. These conditions may have presented some challenges for the pilot, but they did not appear to significantly impact the landing.
Overall, the landing was successful, and the pilot demonstrated a high level of skill and control throughout the approach and landing phases. However, there were some minor deviations from the expected touchdown zone and speed, which may be areas for improvement in future landings.
