MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 8,617 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 1,060 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft, a Cessna CJ4 Citation, taxiing from the parking area to the runway at KTVL Lake Tahoe Airport. This process took approximately 3 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft then departed from runway 36, with a takeoff distance of 1,852 feet, which accounted for 32% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 128 knots.
As the aircraft climbed out of KTVL Lake Tahoe Airport, it encountered local weather conditions of 48°F temperature and a 10-knot headwind. The enroute climb started overhead the airport and continued for 3 minutes, covering a distance of 11 nautical miles and increasing the altitude from 7,309 feet to 15,538 feet. This climb was a significant increase of 8,230 feet.
Following the initial climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 3 miles east of the CA50 Hughes/Malibu Heliport in Malibu, California. This cruise phase lasted for 5 minutes and covered a distance of 26 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent from 15,939 feet to 5,960 feet, a decrease of 9,980 feet, in 5 minutes and covering 25 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise phase resumed 1 mile north-west of Lincoln, California, and lasted for 5 minutes, covering a distance of 15 nautical miles. The aircraft then started its descent from 5,986 feet to 5,195 feet, a decrease of 792 feet, in 2 minutes and covering 6 nautical miles. The descent phase was initiated overhead the CA22 Lauppes Strip in Sacramento, California.
The aircraft then began a climb phase, which started 4 miles north-east of Woodland, California. This climb increased the altitude from 5,195 feet to 5,988 feet, an increase of 793 feet, in 2 minutes and covering 2 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise phase resumed 2 miles west of KSMF Sacramento International Airport and lasted for 9 minutes, covering a distance of 5 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 35R at KSMF Sacramento International Airport was initiated from the south, with a heading of 1.0° and at an altitude of 1,030 feet above ground level. The aircraft landed on the runway, which had a length of 8,617 feet. The threshold height was excessively over target, but the threshold speed was good at 94 knots.
The touchdown distance was good at 1,040 feet, but the touchdown speed was a little fast at 92 knots. The touchdown rate was very hard at -580 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 35 feet from the centreline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 75°F temperature and a 9-knot headwind.
The total landing distance was 2,061 feet, which accounted for 24% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 33 feet from the centreline. The aircraft then taxiied to the parking area, which took approximately 3 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 96 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 42 minutes. The aircraft used 658 pounds of fuel during the flight.
The Cessna CJ4 Citation aircraft successfully landed on runway 35R at KSMF Sacramento International Airport, but the landing was not without some issues. The aircraft scored 77.0% on its landing, indicating that there were some areas for improvement. The final approach to the runway was from the south, heading 1.0° at 3 nautical miles and 1,030 feet above ground level (agl).
The aircraft touched down on the runway at a speed of 92 kt, which was a little fast. However, the touchdown distance of 1,040 ft was good, indicating that the pilot had sufficient control over the aircraft during the landing. The threshold height at 111 ft agl was excessively over target, suggesting that the pilot may have been a bit high on the approach.
The threshold speed was good at 94 kt, indicating that the pilot had maintained a stable approach speed. The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 35 ft from the centreline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the pilot's alignment during the landing. The local weather conditions were favorable, with a temperature of 75°F and a wind of 11 kt at 330°.
The crosswind was relatively light at 5 kt, and the headwind was 9 kt, which may have contributed to the slight misalignment during the landing. The total landing distance was 2,061 ft, which was 24% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 33 ft from the centreline, indicating that the pilot may have had some difficulty in maintaining a straight alignment during the rollout.
Overall, while the landing was not perfect, the pilot demonstrated good control over the aircraft during the approach and landing. However, there were some areas for improvement, particularly in terms of maintaining a stable approach speed and aligning the aircraft with the centreline during the landing and rollout.
