MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Smooth the climb
A good takeoff has a defined shape. It also has a defined end. For an airliner that's thrust reduction and acceleration, commonly somewhere around 1,000 to 1,500 ft above the airfield depending on the operator, while for a light aircraft it's established at Vy with the flaps on schedule. Most simmers have no defined end to their takeoff, which is exactly why it never gets judged.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 6,999 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 1,844 ft past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Honda HA420 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, taking approximately 4 minutes to cover less than 1 nautical mile. The departure roll took place on runway 17R, with the aircraft taking off after covering 4,131 feet, which was 31% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 142 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it encountered local weather conditions with a temperature of 76°F and winds of 7 knots at 220°. The crosswind was 5 knots, while the headwind was 6 knots. After departing from the airport, the enroute climb started 1 mile south of the airport, with the aircraft climbing from 1,612 feet above sea level to 19,935 feet above sea level, an increase of 18,323 feet in 7 minutes, covering a distance of 18 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise began 1 mile north of Myska Field Denton, lasting for 60 minutes and covering a distance of 350 nautical miles. The aircraft then started its enroute descent 6 miles west of Alma, Kansas, descending from 20,005 feet above sea level to 2,574 feet above sea level, a decrease of 17,431 feet in 12 minutes, covering a distance of 38 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 21 at Topeka Regional Airport took place from the northeast, with the aircraft heading 221.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,482 feet above ground level. The landing on runway 21 took place with a runway length of 6,999 feet, and the threshold height was good. The threshold speed was slightly above the target at 111 knots.
The touchdown point was 623 feet beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 94 knots, which was good. The touchdown rate was fair at -219 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was very good. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 79°F and winds of 17 knots at 220°, with a crosswind of 0 knots and a headwind of 17 knots.
The total landing distance was 2,595 feet, which was 37% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was perfect. The taxiing to the parking area from the runway took approximately 2 minutes to cover less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 415 nautical miles, taking 89 minutes, and the aircraft used 0 pounds of fuel.
The Honda HA420 aircraft successfully landed at KFOE Topeka Regional Airport, achieving a score of 95.6%. The final approach was conducted from the north-east, heading 221.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,482 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft landed on runway 21, which has a length of 6,999 feet.
The threshold height was reported as good, indicating that the aircraft was at the correct height as it approached the runway. However, the threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 111 kt, suggesting that the pilot may have been slightly aggressive in their approach. Despite this, the touchdown point was 623 feet beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively acceptable distance.
The touchdown speed of 94 kt was within the acceptable range, indicating that the pilot had successfully managed the aircraft's descent and speed. However, the touchdown rate of -219 fpm was only fair, suggesting that the pilot may have been able to improve the aircraft's rate of descent. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating that the pilot had successfully aligned the aircraft with the runway.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were favorable, with a temperature of 79°F and a wind speed of 17 kt from 220°. This resulted in a headwind of 17 kt, which may have affected the aircraft's approach and landing. However, the crosswind component was negligible, at 0 kt.
The total landing distance of 2,595 feet was 37% of the runway length, which is a relatively acceptable distance. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, indicating that the pilot had successfully controlled the aircraft's roll-out and alignment with the runway.
Overall, the landing was successful, with the pilot achieving a high score of 95.6%. However, there were some areas for improvement, including the slightly above-target threshold speed and the fair touchdown rate.
