Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 10,014 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 2,511 ft past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Honda HA420 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at KHRO Boone County Airport, a process that took 2 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The departure roll took place on runway 18, with the aircraft covering 3,141 feet, which is 51% of the runway length, before lifting off at a speed of 156 knots. The local weather conditions at the time of takeoff were characterized by a temperature of 62°F and a wind speed of 2 knots from a direction of 270°, resulting in a crosswind of 2 knots and a headwind of 0 knots.
As the aircraft began its enroute climb, it started 1 mile south of KHRO Boone County Airport and rose from an altitude of 2,211 feet above sea level to 12,509 feet above sea level, an increase of 10,298 feet, in just 5 minutes and covering a distance of 17 nautical miles. The climb was followed by a level cruise that started 4 miles northeast of 1AR4 Foggy River Airport Elkins, Arkansas, and lasted for 15 minutes, during which the aircraft covered a distance of 80 nautical miles.
The enroute descent began 3 miles south of OK18 Grand Isle Airport Big Cabin, Oklahoma, and saw the aircraft descend from an altitude of 12,506 feet above sea level to 1,915 feet above sea level, a decrease of 10,591 feet, in 10 minutes and covering a distance of 34 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 18L at KTUL Tulsa International Airport was made from the north, with the aircraft heading 183.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,275 feet above ground level.
The landing took place on runway 18L at KTUL Tulsa International Airport, which has a length of 10,014 feet. The threshold height at 59 feet above ground level was slightly above the target, and the threshold speed was also slightly above the target at 114 knots. The touchdown point was 1,102 feet beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed of 98 knots was a little fast. However, the touchdown rate was good at -171 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 32 feet from the centreline.
The total landing distance was 4,506 feet, which is 45% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned by 32 feet from the centreline. After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, a process that took 2 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 138 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 37 minutes, during which the aircraft used 0 pounds of fuel.
The Honda HA420 aircraft successfully landed at KTUL Tulsa International Airport, achieving an overall score of 88.6%. The final approach to runway 18L was initiated from the north, with a heading of 183.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,275 feet above ground level (agl).
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down 1,102 feet beyond the touchdown zone, which is a significant deviation from the target. The touchdown speed of 98 knots was slightly above the target, indicating that the pilot may have been unable to fully arrest the aircraft's descent. However, the touchdown rate of -171 feet per minute (fpm) was considered good, suggesting that the pilot was able to maintain control of the aircraft during the landing.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were favorable, with a temperature of 61°F and a wind speed of 2 knots from 270°. This resulted in a negligible crosswind component and a headwind of 0 knots. The runway length of 10,014 feet was more than sufficient to accommodate the aircraft's landing distance of 4,506 feet, which accounted for 45% of the runway.
Despite the successful landing, there were some areas for improvement. The threshold height at 59 feet agl was slightly above the target, and the threshold speed of 114 knots was also slightly above the target. Additionally, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 32 feet from the centreline, and the runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned by 32 feet from the centreline. These deviations suggest that the pilot may have been unable to fully align the aircraft with the runway centreline during the landing.
