Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,303 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 479 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Airbus A320 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at East Midlands Airport, taking approximately 10 minutes to cover a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft then departed from runway 27, with a takeoff distance of 1,208 meters, which was 47% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 162 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of departure were a temperature of 15°C, with a wind speed of 14 knots at 259°.
As the aircraft climbed to a higher altitude, it began its enroute climb, starting overhead Castle Donington in Leicestershire, England. The climb took 17 minutes to reach an altitude of 36,308 feet above sea level, an increase of 34,943 feet from the initial altitude of 1,365 feet. During this time, the aircraft covered a distance of 165 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise phase of the flight began 38 miles northwest of Nieuw-Haamstede in the Provincie Zeeland, The Netherlands. This phase lasted for 38 minutes, during which the aircraft covered a distance of 565 nautical miles.
As the aircraft approached its destination, it started its enroute descent, beginning 1 mile east of Svobodne Hermanice in the Moravskoslezsky kraj, Czech Republic. The descent took 20 minutes to reach an altitude of 2,064 feet above sea level, a decrease of 33,853 feet from the previous altitude of 35,916 feet. During this time, the aircraft covered a distance of 85 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 25 at Kraków John Paul II International Airport was made from the east, with a heading of 258.0° at an altitude of 1,266 feet above ground level, and 4 nautical miles from the runway. The landing was made on runway 25, which had a length of 2,303 meters. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 12°C, with a wind speed of 3 knots at 180°.
The touchdown point was 66 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 128 knots, which was a little fast. However, the touchdown rate was good at -156 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was very good. The total landing distance was 1,059 meters, which was 46% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was perfect.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, taking approximately 5 minutes to cover a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 823 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 87 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 5,596 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at EPKK Kraków John Paul II International Airport, achieving a score of 99.9%. The aircraft was approaching the runway from the east, heading 258.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,266 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was executed with precision, and the aircraft landed safely on runway 25, which has a length of 2,303 meters.
The threshold height was good, indicating that the aircraft was at the correct altitude as it approached the runway. The threshold speed of 134 knots was also within the acceptable range, demonstrating the pilot's skill in managing the aircraft's speed during the landing phase. However, the touchdown speed of 128 knots was slightly faster than desired, which may have been due to the pilot's decision to flare the aircraft slightly earlier than necessary.
The touchdown point was 66 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation. The touchdown rate of -156 feet per minute (fpm) was good, indicating that the aircraft was able to absorb the impact of landing smoothly. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, demonstrating the pilot's ability to align the aircraft with the runway centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 12°C and a wind speed of 3 knots from 180°. The crosswind component was 3 knots, while the headwind component was 1 knot. These conditions did not pose a significant challenge to the landing, and the aircraft was able to maintain a stable approach.
The total landing distance of 1,059 meters was 46% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance. This indicates that the aircraft was able to decelerate quickly and smoothly after touchdown. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, demonstrating the pilot's skill in maintaining control of the aircraft during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was executed with precision and skill, and the aircraft was able to come to a stop safely and efficiently. The score of 99.9% reflects the high level of proficiency demonstrated by the pilot during this landing.
