MY FS FLIGHTS

Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,295 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 525 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 15 minutes and covered a distance of 5 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-800, then departed from runway 33R at KIAH George Bush Intercontinental Houston Airport. The takeoff distance was 80 meters, which is 2% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 172 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 30 degrees Celsius and winds of 10 knots at 110 degrees. The crosswind component was 7 knots, while the tailwind component was 8 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile northwest of KIAH George Bush Intercontinental Houston Airport. The climb took 3 minutes and covered a distance of 6 nautical miles, during which the aircraft ascended from 1,118 feet above sea level to 5,021 feet above sea level, an increase of 3,903 feet.
Following the initial climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 2 miles south of Humble, Texas. This phase lasted for 2 minutes and covered a distance of 8 nautical miles. The aircraft then began another climb phase, this time from an altitude of 6,033 feet above sea level to 35,292 feet above sea level, an increase of 29,259 feet. This climb took 18 minutes and covered a distance of 134 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered a long level cruise phase, which started 14 miles southwest of KKAP Kaplan Airport in Louisiana. This phase lasted for 190 minutes and covered a distance of 1,607 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent, starting 19 miles north of Luquillo, Puerto Rico. The descent took 27 minutes and covered a distance of 147 nautical miles, during which the aircraft descended from 36,075 feet above sea level to 1,342 feet above sea level, a decrease of 34,733 feet.
The final approach to runway 10 at TNCM Princess Juliana International Airport was made from the west, with a heading of 81.0 degrees at an altitude of 1,319 feet above ground level. The aircraft landed on the runway, which had a length of 2,295 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 144 knots. The touchdown point was 111 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was a little fast at 144 knots. However, the touchdown rate was smooth at -128 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was very good.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 30 degrees Celsius and winds of 10 knots at 110 degrees. The crosswind component was 5 knots, while the headwind component was 9 knots. The total landing distance was 1,412 meters, which is 62% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was also very good.
The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 3 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 1,914 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 260 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 10,338 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-800 aircraft successfully landed at TNCM Princess Juliana International Airport, achieving a score of 97.3%. The final approach to runway 10 was conducted from the west, with a heading of 81.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,319 feet above ground level.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on the runway, with the threshold height being satisfactory. However, the threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 144 knots, indicating a slight deviation from the optimal landing conditions. The touchdown point was located 111 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which may be attributed to the slightly fast touchdown speed of 144 knots.
The touchdown rate was smooth, with a descent rate of -128 feet per minute, indicating a controlled and stable landing. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, suggesting that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway during the landing process.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 30°C and a wind speed of 10 knots from a direction of 110°. The crosswind component was 5 knots, while the headwind component was 9 knots. These conditions may have contributed to the slightly fast touchdown speed and the touchdown point being beyond the designated zone.
The total landing distance was 1,412 meters, which accounted for 62% of the runway length. This indicates that the aircraft was able to stop within a reasonable distance after touchdown. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, suggesting that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was successful, with the aircraft achieving a high score of 97.3%. However, there were some minor deviations from the optimal landing conditions, including a slightly fast touchdown speed and a touchdown point beyond the designated zone.
