Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.

The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft, an Airbus A321, taxiing from the parking area to the runway at LIPZ Venice Marco Polo Airport. This process took 5 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The departure roll took place on runway 04R, and the takeoff distance was 6,720 feet, which accounted for 62% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 168 knots.
As the aircraft took to the skies, it encountered local weather conditions of 58°F temperature and a 2-knot wind at 320°. The crosswind was 2 knots, and the headwind was 0 knots. The enroute climb started 1 mile northeast of LIPZ Venice Marco Polo Airport, where the aircraft climbed from 1,001 feet above sea level to 34,941 feet above sea level, an increase of 33,940 feet in 27 minutes, covering a distance of 182 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise began 5 miles northeast of Skradin, Croatia, and lasted for 62 minutes, covering a distance of 466 nautical miles. The aircraft then started its enroute descent 15 miles northwest of Kymi, Greece, and descended from 34,466 feet above sea level to 6,004 feet above sea level, a decrease of 28,461 feet in 14 minutes, covering a distance of 84 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started again 10 miles south of Andros, Greece, and lasted for 2 minutes, covering a distance of 8 nautical miles. The enroute descent began 5 miles northeast of Ano Syros, Greece, and descended from 6,012 feet above sea level to 647 feet above sea level, a decrease of 5,365 feet in 6 minutes, covering a distance of 18 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 16 at LGMK Mykonos Island National Airport took place from the north, heading 162.0° at 1 nautical mile and 244 feet above ground level. The landing on runway 16 was successful, with a runway length of 6,242 feet. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also good at 144 knots. The touchdown distance was 744 feet, and the touchdown speed was 143 knots, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was hard at -464 feet per minute, but the runway touchdown alignment was perfect.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 66°F temperature and a 4-knot wind at 240°, with a crosswind of 4 knots and a headwind of 1 knot. The total landing distance was 3,646 feet, which accounted for 58% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect. The taxiing to the parking area from the runway took 1 minute and covered less than 1 nautical mile.
In total, the flight distance was 762 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 121 minutes. The aircraft used 13,093 pounds of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A321 aircraft successfully landed at Mykonos Island National Airport, achieving a score of 96.0%. The final approach to runway 16 was initiated from the north, with a heading of 162.0° at a distance of 1 nautical mile and an altitude of 244 feet above ground level (agl).
The aircraft touched down on the runway with a good threshold height, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. The threshold speed of 144 knots was also within the acceptable range, demonstrating the pilot's ability to manage the aircraft's speed during the landing phase. The touchdown distance of 744 feet was also satisfactory, indicating that the aircraft was able to maintain a stable and controlled approach.
However, the touchdown speed of 143 knots was slightly faster than the recommended speed, which may have contributed to a harder touchdown rate of -464 feet per minute (fpm). A harder touchdown rate can be a concern, as it may indicate that the aircraft is experiencing a higher-than-desired deceleration force upon touchdown.
Despite the slightly faster touchdown speed, the aircraft's runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating that the pilot was able to maintain a stable and controlled approach. The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were favorable, with a temperature of 66°F and a wind speed of 4 knots from 240°. The crosswind component was 4 knots, while the headwind component was 1 knot.
The total landing distance of 3,646 feet was 58% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect, indicating that the pilot was able to maintain control of the aircraft during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was successful, with the aircraft achieving a high score of 96.0%. However, the slightly faster touchdown speed and harder touchdown rate may be areas for improvement in future landings.
